cut Navy Carrier Battle Groups from 12 down to 6. A couple wings of Air Force planes, two divisions of the Army? Those cuts could save a trillion every year. Then, if we could prevent congress from spending that money the debt would go down every year. I'm for the reasonable combination of agencies--it will cut overhead and red tape. I'm also for the elimination of the expensive and silly Department of Homeland Theater and reducing the very bloated military budget as popeye notes above, along with letting the military nix projects/purchases it doesn't even want/need. Music, that stuff comes from lobbyists and congressmen/senators who's states have cos. who want to sell more stuff to the military and are big contributers to said congressmen/senators. While in the Navy when in port we were always getting new stuff (beyond our divisions budget, "Ops.") like new chairs which would last probably last 20 years. So, they ended up in storage with a bunch of other stuff because the chairs we had were perfectly fine and were probably 5-8 years old anyway. The friggin ship would probably be de-commisioned before we needed new chairs! And we had about 200 of those green military notebooks! One of them would probably last for a year depending on what it was used for. And all kinds of other stuff, stationary, shitloads of those black govt. pens, foul weather jackets, gloves navigation charts that we never used, extra this, extra that and we were only one ship! And on Norfork Naval Base they had HUGE warehouses that were full of all kinds of stuff I'm sure. And the Engineers had a shitload of 55 gal drums of grease. You name it we probably had it in spades. And each division had their own storage spaces!
