Hi, I am rather new to BDSM. And I'm wondering what are the sensations like from getting hit by a suede flogger or a leather flogger. Do let me know. :)

Suede = soft (too soft imo)

Leather will depend on what type of leather it is. Lots of sites that sell them will explain the differences in the types.

suede in my experience is not gonna "hurt" Leather depends on the type of leather, pigskin, belting leather, latigo, elk, kangaroo, bullhide, , the way its cut, the length, the tips, will all make a difference.
One of my favourite places that shows some differences are the descriptions at http://www.leatherbeaten.com/floggers.html
I am in no way an expert, I dont pretend to be, but i do realllly like them

As my girlfriend Christina stated above, there are lots of different leathers.

Simplifying, the softer the falls material is, the more "thuddy" the flogger will be.  It will feel like being insistently shoved lightly.  The harder the material is, the more "sting-y" it will be.  That's another word for ouchy.

It's not only the material, but also where the strokes land.  If they're on your back, they'll reduce stress.  On your ass, they'll get you turned on.

Welcome to collarme!

Great, thanks! The website is especially useful. :)

For me it's just the opposite. I have two floggers. One is leather that my first Master bought for me, the other one I made out of more of a suede type material. The leather one feels much more thuddy to me than the one I made. They both sting wonderfully, but when I use the one I made, I feel mostly sting, while the leather one feels mostly thuddy because it's heavier.

Suede has a texture, so it creates friction on the skin in a different way from polished leather (which will have a naturally suede/texture side anyway). That constant friction builds up heat, and depending on the person's skin, can even cause more bruising than leather. There's a surprising range of sensation from different leathers, which is why some of us own....more than two. [8|]

I have a feeling im in that realm... but on the positive side I havent bought a new one for at least two years...
mmmmmm bruising.. I do like suede for that. its not as stingy as laces with knots:) well in my NSH experience

Aren't they both leather?

The equipment board might have more ideas for ya.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Sensations of suede flogger vs leather flogger (1/16/2012 4:37:21 PM)

Yes, they are both leather, but some people only know how to define the different feel of each by what they are called.

Hi.

I only know from what subs have told me. They say plastic, thin strips of leather, and wood hurts the most and suede is softer. The best way to find out is to try them all.[;)]

Hope this helps.

Generally, the reason for different types of leather are for the sensations the texture gives to the skin. The Human skin is after all the largest sexual organ we possess, so arousing that is paramount to a good time. As to how each feels, it depends on the one using it. It doesn't matter so much what you are being hit with as much as how you hit with it. Technique with striking: where, speed, how hard, etc, defines sensation more than what material an instrument is made from. Be it a paddle, whip, cane, quirt, tawse, flicker...
