the robin reliant, or reliant robin depending on where you come from very exciting going around a round about on two wheels or for having sex in otherwise, the fascination wore off fairly quickly, but then im not a guy:)

I had the pleasure of broadsiding a Trabba in Berlin driving a 25 yr old Mini Cooper. Mini 1 Commie piece of shit 0. The trabba had 2 front mounted drum brakes no hydraulic back up operating a single shoe, a fixed beam axle & leaf spring suspension. It made a Model T look like a fucking Viper. 3 cylinder 600cc engine I wanted one.

Not a diss, Steven (and the Trabant is inarguably a dreadful piece of shit), but there's a few quite well regarded bits of soviet engineering as well as the shite. They had satellites and space capsules up before your lot did, after all. Then there's the AK47, which is seen as a bit of a design classic and the TR88, which isn't, but was a lot easier to manufacture in number than the Panzers, which led to a great success at the battle of Brest-Litovsk...

Not a Diss Moonhead but the Soviet war effort was aided massively by western technology, hence the Arctic convoys. The engine for the T34 was ripped off from a Stutz originally & towards the end of the war a big Chrysler V8 was being imported. But hey they did also make the AK74 which is an awesome toy btw but that's counterbalanced by Concordski, the scariest POS I've flown on, the Zil, the Moscovich, the Wartberg, Lada, Dacia, & Skoda. Oh & boy you never saw communist era womens underwear. Jeeze that was unwittingly designed bondage gear. Oh & the later tanks were absolute gash, using reactive armour, ie explosive pads to counter the offensive strike. Only problem was the explosives expanded slower than the incoming round so it was an epic fail.

True, I was forgetting the arctic convoys. I thought the Zils were supposed to be pretty decent cars once they'd worked out the bugs in the initial designs? If the Politburo are going to be using the things, surely a lot of people would have been in trouble if they were complete lemons?

Overweight, underpowered, POS it was a '50's yankee V8 engine from a Plymouth I think. BTW leonid Breznev had the largest collection of Caddy's outside the States back then.

GAWD, what a piece of crap!Another reason to hate communism is the ugly arcitecture of buildings. Now,....to be fair, the Russian women are some of the most beautiful in the world! There's a site "Met-Art" that has mostly Russian Federation women in it and they're "15's!!!

Given that the USSR and your own country spent forty odd years in an arms race, I'd imagine the military goods were bound to win out, sadly. The fact that all of the resources were being pissed away on that was a big part of the reason the soviet union collapsed, after all.
