Would you rather that they did not?

Nice attempt at a strawman. I was only reporting the news nonjudgementally.

Personally, I hope we save 3 more boatloads of them in the next 10 days as every time our seafarers rescue theirs, it makes the Sabre rattlers in Tehran look more idiotic and reduces tensions even further.

Sorry to disappoint you.

Moonhead -> RE: US Navy to the Rescue again (1/20/2012 5:46:39 AM)

Absolutely.
Most of the population of Tehran are on your side rather than the handful of leftovers from the revolution who are still running their country, after all. One of the main results of the '80s war with Iraq is a huge generation gap, after all. All you really need to do at this point is outwait the Ayatollah and his sockpuppet, and the clock's ticking for both. Khameni is not a well man anymore, and Ahminadinnejad is going to have the survival prospects of a soap goldfish without him to hide behind.

Not sure what strawman you ar refering to but what ever...Do you feel that teheran is the only source of sabre rattling?
I can remember a recent presidential candidate singing bomb bomb bomb iran for the international media.
All we know about them is what our news media tells us. I remember when ahmadinajad was on 60 minutes he refuted several "well known facts" about iran and what iran's policy is.

Its over the top to compare McCain on the campaign trail in 2007, making what was clearly a humorous quip in reference to the 1980's song that parodied the old Beach Boys track Barbara Ann, in reply to a question that was asked by one of his supporters in the audience, with Iran's extreme official rhetoric and continuous military exercises for weeks now.

Official rhetoric" is still just rhetoric. A point many here seem to overlook.

In my opinion the source of the rhetoric is a factor too - there is a big difference between a candidate making a quip-like remark in response to a question after blowing his nose for five minutes, and the strong language used by the officials of a regime (extended to their Arab neighbours now also) in conjunction with very public displays of military prowess.
