I was amazed by this article. I had always assumed that the stones were quarried.

uumm....they know exactly where the stones were quarried from. There are still leftover ones there that were abandoned due to cracks and splints making the stones unusable. Sorry to burst your little theory there.

It is not my theory, nor my conviction. It is just a hypothesis to consider.
