The reaction of the dog in the first part of the video is pretty disturbing. I assume a previous owner must have been extremely cruel to it, and may be that it was going to be put down due to its extreme behaviour so it was surprising to see her respond so quickly to affection.

I am ALWAYS impressed with how quickly and effectively animals, especially dogs, can be rehabilitated from that which previously caused them trauma.
