I am a little bit torn on this situation.
The way things are, it is sad that people cannot have better forums to voice their opinions and questions directly to an elected person. They need to grab any chance. On the other hand, it was a book signing. I would hope they could have made their point without detroying the situation, and maybe they could have, if allowed to even try.

You can be ejected from an area of a politician just for wearing a statement printed on a Tshirt now. Free speech is dead. Ideals are now grounds for arrest, even before any action on those ideals.

I wish it were in law, that any elected official had to present themselves to a public forum X number of times a year, to answer unscripted, unknown in advance questions from their constituents. A lottery to pick the questioners.

Nobody should be ejected from a public place, or arrested, because they might ask an inconvenient question, or say something disturbing. This is thought crime, arrest before the fact.

I like the idea of the politicians having to face the public every so often lol.

One thing I'd point out, if the arrests occured at a book signing, the store owners have a right to not have their place of business disrupted.

Oh I love it.
Undercover park rangers? Was he dressed as a bear when he got fondled?
Of course the Dems have closets full of skeletons too. But they at least don't want to outlaw every type of skeleton. And could even have some on the podium backing them up in the right forum.
That cross dressing republican could have got a lot of crossover votes.

I like to see politicians questioned by the public they serve only for them to refuse to answer and have the person tossed. I guess it has come to this, we as the public aren't allowed to question our elected officials anymore. I guess we are supposed to swallow whatever they say without question or thought.
I'm glad these women did what they did and had I been there, I would have done the exact same thing. Its time to take a stand either we fight back against a second Dark Age or we sit by like sheep and let it happen. Right now we have a choice...

As a constituant of Santurom- and one that writes and calls... he almost never responds to my contacts.

Demographically- it is red state in my county....

I think I got one response from him.

I heard a talk show host (Randi Rhodes (sp)) say that she thought that all elected officials should be required to swear under oath when they take office(with the threat of perjury hanging over the heads should that lie) that they will tell the truth throughout their tenure in office.  THAT would never happen, but it sure is a nice idea to think about.
