& the MC, the Ramones? Seriously one of the first bands to touch on Goth must have been the Doors.

Lydon did a John Peel show or 2 & he was playing the Alan Parsons Project

I adore a lot of the Doors stuff.

Especially Crystal Ship. *swoon* [:D]

Ive always been a big fan of M.M. -----> been trying lately to figure out his trillogy albums that were released in reverse order, but cant seem to find the common thread or the story. Maybe if I listen to them another umteen million times I'll figure out the meaning of life and what the hell this picture is all about.

More Peter Hammill: this is a bit abrasive.
Gog
I love this one, it has everything: horror film soundtrack organ, Hammill screeching like Curtis Mayfield catching his schlong in his zipper, gleefully nasty lyrics, and a hideously ugly sound, the lot. One of the ultimate "I'm well narked,me" songs, really...
(Sadly, Part two Magog is a just slightly dull piece of musique concrete he tagged onto the end of this to scare people on acid...)

I hope this story about Peter hamill is true. His cousin was a wannabe that got his band signed so he invited uncle Peter to the gig. Hammill was so disgusted he forced him to change his name as he would not be associated with such mind numbing drivel. The band was kagagoogoo & the chap in question the singer Limahl.

Seriously for a second though Wasn't some of the late 60's arly 70's Rolling Stones proto Goth I'm thinking sdome of Let it Bleed & Goats Head Soup in particular. Your thoughts?g

Sorry I forgot this I was thinking at work. Surely the whole Kraut Rock movement was a direct influence on bands like Cabaret Voltaire, Bauhaus & Sisters lifted Doc Avalanche straight from Kraftwerk IMO, I'm thinking of Amon Dul, & Can in particular though.

mathematics of chaos - killing joke acturally the ring tone on my phone.

in the flat field - bauhaus fantastic stuff

heat - the mission

crystal ocean - the mission

garden of delight - the mission

there are many more, but as i said, it all depends on mood and need.

I always thought Amon Duul sounded more like a sort of muso Hawkwind than anything else.
Or was that Amon Duul 2?

Amon Dul mate, they had the audio generator too.
