all the comercials say horrible things about it, but I don't expect competitors to say glowing things about a competition product, so I thought I'd ask you all.

Well ATT U verse was misleading me when they told me they had speeds as fast as I needed availible, so it doesn't matter what any one thinks, I won't be going with them.

I had it for a couple of years, at 20 meg speeds.

Always worked fine, no problems, after I got them to install the lines correctly.

ATT itself, on the other hand, can sometimes be a nightmare of a company to deal with.

How fast are you looking for?

+1.

Good product. Horrible customer service.

well you need bare minimum 4  for a good quality stream from netflix, which is our fav thing to do on a tv program dull night, so more than 4.

earthlink offered 6.0 I'm not looking to pay a huge amount of money either, most I'd care to pay is 50.

They have 3 to 24, unless your area can't provide the higher speeds.  Around here 6 is about 25 bucks for 12 months.

I had it for a while and it was terrible. I was really wanting it to be good too since I didn't want to do business with the cable company. Today I am back on cable.

Judging from some of the positive comments above, maybe it depends on the phone line infrastructure in your area. I was in an older apartment building at the time. Now that I am in a house, I am outside of their service area and couldn't compare on my fancy laid-this-millenia phone lines.

That's what I said, they don't offer any higher than 3 in our area. Add to that, apparently only very few companies do DSL or high speed in our area, because I've already checked 4 companies  surewest, frontier, verizon, and one other, and nobody i checked with so far does dsl.

This whole discussion is relatively moot until you move closer to civilization.

I've got U-verse and like it so far; the only problem I've had was due to a near miss by a lightning strike (yes, it was on a surge protector).  Lost the HDMI output and the A/V one wasn't working right, either.

As an AT&T retiree I am partial but I have had U-Verse for 4 years. Some people I know have some trouble after the initial set up. I have not had 1 problem since I got it. With U-Verse it is all about distance. It runs on fiber to your area, and copper pairs to your house from there. Distance is good for some women but not for U-Verse..Must be 2000 ft. for your fiber connection to work.
