You joined yesterday. You weren't here for the entire debacle of Arpig and his legions of dopplegangers stirring the shit on a daily basis...were you? It got quite nasty and was really ugly and caused quite a lot of hurt feelings.

He wasn't/isn't a twit. He was a long-term, valued poster. Watching his downward spiral was ugly and such a waste of an obvious talent. His tapestry got away from him but the man could weave a story. If he hadn't tried to do so much with it, he could probably could have kept it going. His characters were too one-dimensional though and began to leak into one another until it didn't matter who posted what, it was obvious that it was Arpig.

Really, really obvious.

I didn't see his talent, but I see your talent, so I'll take your word for it.  For most of his time here he posted in P&R, where I never go.  Then one day, suddenly, he was posting in General.  He was very well spoken in some ways, but he couldn't argue in a logically clean way.  He introduced ad hominem constantly.  For example, there was one thread in which Awareness took an extremely unpopular position, and I spoke up and said Awareness was essentially correct.  From that day on, Arpig said that the reason I made certain posts was because I was not getting laid.  I eventually decided not to read or respond to him at all, and he had his socks post that I was behaving passive-aggressively by not engaging with Arpig.

So I left for a while.  Now he's gone in disgrace, I'm back and happy, and the mods are more actively stopping the posting of personal attacks.  I think things have concluded rather well.

By me, of course. He asked important questions which made me really think about values and ideas that I held and hold. He gave me an opportunity to review them, see if they withstood such questions and, ultimately, I was able to validate those ideas and opinions by giving his questions the consideration they deserved. I hold that to be of value to me.

I can acknowledge his previous contributions and still abhor the method and behavior he exhibited later on when it all turned so nasty. I deleted the man that he decided to become from my reading list and miss the man he used to be and had the potential to remain had made other choices.

I doubt that I am the only one who feels that way but if I am, so be it.

His questions into others' choices in music, not just mine, and his comments therein, exposed him as a fraud from the outset. His questions in that terrain had no value, rather as mere antagonization intended.

I do not mean to denigrate whatever you found of value in some other regard, sorry if taken that way.

That be as it may, as we speak, he (it) is laughing his ass off, amazed at what he got away with for this long.

Okay, no worries. I will answer to the edit then.

Our posts to one another were mostly about the US Constitution and Prop 8 here in CA and the questions he asked me on those subjects were logical and appeared to me, sincere. I don't read music threads so was unaware of his behavior in that area but it seems to be consistant with his behavior in other parts of the forums as things began to spiral down.

I miss the fun guy he was and I find value in growth. That he contributed to that growth deserves to be acknowledged as much as his subsequent behavior and methods deserve to be villified.

That's about it for me here. His time bank with me is done and I'm sure a lot of folks will be happy if I just shut up about it already.
