Over the many years i've 'played' in both. But with current Lady i've only played at home where she has felt she could not 'go to town' for fear of upsetting the streets dogs or whatever. So today' i've hired a dungeon for a couple of hours.......and am running out of bravery pills. I reckon she is going to let her Sadism run free. Anyone else been in this 'interesting' situation. Any advice. Help. Is it going to be hugely different from our usual play. She is a Sadist.

Talk to her about your fears and misgivings outside of a scene/while she's not busy being sadistic. If she doesn't listen, call you a derogatory name disparaging your feelings, tells you to suck it up, or a variation on this theme then listen to your fear and act appropriately in taking care of yourself. If after talking with her you still feel okay going forward - if you don't have a safe word and/or a word for taking a break it seems to me that now's a good time for the addition of such things into your play.

To the OP
Actually I find it the opposite. Most Dommes I know are much more comfortable in a home setting versus a commercial dungeon for getting their freak on. I know I am much more comfortable in a home type setting. Or said another way. I can fully let go in a home dungeon type setting. I cannot do that in a commercial one.

I myself find it much easier to top at home, where all my toys are easily accessible, and everything is my domain. HOWEVER, I do find going to professional play-spaces does amp up the theatrics a bit, what with all the wonderful devices to choose from.
I think you'll find you're going to be deliciously afraid the whole time.

How much damage can she do in just a few short hours?

You could discuss this with her as suggested by FemmeDominion...I'd just enjoy the spice created by the fear.

If she's unfamiliar with much of the equipment there, because she doesn't have them at home. Then it could be a less sadistic session because so much of the time will be spent figuring out how best to use the equipment.

I like playing at home, because I like perverting normal furniture. I like playing in fancy spaces, too, IF they have furniture I like. It's really all about me and my playmate, wherever we are.

Oh oh. Me too!! I was just looking around my own home the other day and realized, I have all sorts of pervertible furniture in my place. The recliners (loveseat and chair) make great flogging/spanking benches, I have a huge chair with arms that's good for bondage, the ceiling-to-floor room divider makes for a great rack and bondage points. The bed's already got O-rings on all for corners. All I need to do is turn up the music to muffle the sounds we make.

Home........how much damage in a 'few short hours'..........one hell of a lot. Never ever been so marked (and loving it). If we had a safe word these days i may, just may have used it. i needed 20 mins 'rest' in the cage to recover...ain't she thoughtful.

i now have even more fear (nicely) if the situation arises again. AND AND, on top of it all, she did not even bring the key to my CB.

Ya can't help but love 'em

So just to clarify, I'm reading the question as "Have you experienced more intense play at home or in a dungeon." For me it's not even close. Just this past weekend I experienced what I would describe as moderately rough play at a play party at a dungeon and I have certainly experienced far rougher play than that at play parties in the past, but not even remotely close to the most intense play, scenes, or what have you that I have experienced at home or in private residences with women I had relationships with or intense play partner connections with.

To be honest, I have never done a "private" scene in a "public" dungeon, but I can't imagine any publicly used dungeon where I would feel as free to completely let go and feel the connection I have with the person I am playing with as in a private residence.

It is true that there can be a certain energy felt in knowing people are watching you play, but, ultimately, I think that hinders more than helps the evolution of the most intense scenes. I don't think I've ever been in a relationship or had a strong play partner connection with a women who felt differently.
