littlewonder -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/26/2012 7:20:38 PM)

I have an iphone and use it for tons of stuff. I use it to put my grocery list on, I use Suri for directions or where to find something or to set my alarm and other stuff, it has a pedometer I can use when I'm walking, I play Angry birds on it when I'm waiting in lines or riding the bus or waiting for someone, I used it for my alarm clock, it's my gps, use the camera to take pics and send them to facebook, Master and my daughter, can email someone while running around or look something up on the web, I listen to music on it with headphones while I'm walking, I have a couple of apps I use such as shopsavvy where I can scan a product at the store and it tells me what the price is for the object at other stores, oh I have a flashlight app so if it's dark I can see when I get in my place with my keys, oh I have bump. It's an app where you can share things just by bumping it with another iphone.

And today while I was buying from a food truck over town they had a cool app for credit cards. They swipe your credit card and you sign your name on the iphone with your finger, like you do with the stylus in stores with the little machines at the counter. I thought it was really kewl. I was fascinated with it and since it wasn't busy I talked to the guy about it lol.

I adore my iphone.

What pedometer app??
I love my iphone for pix as much as anything, it takes better photos than most cameras. Instagram is awesome as well.

it's called the nike+ipod. It will tell you your distance, calories burned, you can time it, record your workouts.

I haven't really used it much yet but I do plan on using it more soon.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/26/2012 8:28:41 PM)

You're fucking joking right?. There are over 300,000 apps for iPhone.  Perhaps you should visit the app store and look around instead asking us to describe 300,000 apps for your phone.

As far as android vs iPhone, both have pretty much the same types of apps available and can create a hot spot (mifi) for net access other devices can use.

Hahahaha.
I feel sorry my kids generation. They don't know what it's like to just run outside and play.
Everything is prearranged as a "playdate".

I was a kid in the 70's and a teen in the 80's. I wouldn't trade that for anything.
No cell phones. No internet. Just real life.
People actually interacted face to face with people.

So then here is my online GF. Just kidding, I know you are already engaged elsewie, etc.

I bought my first home computer 7 years ago, bought my first cell phone 5 days ago ($9.99 for the phone, 10 cents-per-minute, non-contract). I've lost it twice already, but (checking my pocket as we speak) it's here now.

Yes, the two biggest apps in my life were the Sears turntable, with then down loadable (from a store) 45 RPM tunes, and the larger 33 & 1/3 also, and then a battery operated radio to take outside, which I did only occasionally.

I remember the day when I could walk through the woods with out hearing earbuds or cell phone conversation from 50 feet away, (driving 200+ miles away for a nice bike ride, hike, or climb and then hearing the cell phone crap when another human is around is a tremendous pisser), public transportation with out hearing at least 3 different cell phone conversations and at least 3 different ear buds blasting away, be in a restaurant in mid afternoon, which was formerly the quiet time, but now filled in this time slot by at least 3 different cell phone conversations and one or two blasting from ear buds, and so then now we have the grocery store, where we can all be caught up on the most trivial of everyone else's concerns the entire time while shopping and waiting in check-out, thanks to cell phones, lack of manners, and plain idiocy.

The university library limits actual library rules to the fifth floor, all other floors allowing cell phone conversation and ear bud blasting at all times.

Dekalb and Fulton counties still disallow such usage in their libraries. When are they going to catch up?

All The apps above are on android as well..

I recommend returning the Iphone for an android based phone because I prefer a freer market...

But if you want to do it, then theres an app to do it, on either platform...

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/26/2012 10:14:19 PM)

Yes, Android can do everything an iPhone can but better.  Aside from minor hiccups like I mentioned, you'll love it.  You'll love it more than your family.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/26/2012 10:26:28 PM)

I have a HTC Rezound running Ice Cream Sandwich... Before that a Samsung Droid Crap running Gingerbread...and before that a Moto Droid Gen1 running froyo

The Moto and the HTC have been AMAZING... However the Samsung charge was a dud, theres too many manufacturers defects for it to even rate as a droid let alone an android phone....

I have the HTC Thunderbolt once I got an extended battery it became awesome (15 Mb/s on my phone is pretty sweet). I never much cared for the apple ecosystem and absolutely despise iTunes in particular, but that's just me.

Anyway best siri commercial ever:

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/27/2012 12:26:54 AM)

My Rezound has the extended battery, its enjoyable..... I can go 4 days with moderate usage and not need to charge..

I also get roughly 4.3mg/2.6mg 3g speeds and 17.54mg/13.27mg 4g speeds on average...

It blew my mind to get a 38.92 mg download speed the first time i used 4g in the store.

I often chuckle when I see those NFL "Play 60" commercials. It's a noble cause, to be sure but when I was a kid it would have taken an army to keep me still for 60 minutes. Progress is a double edged sword. Some of the very technology that makes our lives easier is just as detrimental to it.

slvemike4u -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/30/2012 12:09:17 PM)

Ok here's a problem,and admittedly earth shattering,but my computer will not label the music.These are bought and paid for cd's,yet the laptop is treating them like home burned stuff...track 1 and 2 and such,so now when I transfer to the iPhone I have a lot of unlabeled music....since I feel I will mostly use the shuffle program,and it is all my music not that big a deal.Surely I must be doing some thing wrong though and would love to correct this shit,even if I have to start all over.

mnottertail -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/30/2012 12:10:54 PM)

have you got all the latest driver updates for your cd/dvd player from the manufacturer?  not from windows. manufacturer.

slvemike4u -> RE: Apple's iPhone... (1/30/2012 12:26:47 PM)

You lost me Ron,please talk to me like I am in kindergarten....I really am that slow,tech wise
