Anyone? [:D]

A doctorate in politics. Whooooo-wee! You *know* she wouldn't pick up the shovel!
Maybe this is what Rick Santorum meant when he said don't send your kids to college?
I can see the job fairs; "Apply Here! We need 400 Doctorates in Politics TODAY!!!"
"Got a buddy with a Doctorate in Politics? Bring them down and get a $100 finder's fee!"
"Our phones are ringing off the hook; "WE NEED DOCTORATES IN POLITICS NOW!!!"
"First 100 Doctorates in politics get a FREE Remington 810 shotgun!!!"

Wonder why it is that those on the Right feel the need to disparage the education of others. Rachel’s degree in Public Policy is from Stanford University. Now, Stanford aint exactly your local community college. Then of course we might mention that her PhD was earned on Rhodes Scholarship from Lincoln College, Oxford University, UK. Pretty good for a small town American girl. Maybe we might value a person's accomplishments even if we disagree with her politics, and not feel so threatened or insecure.

But maybe that would be putting too much of a strain on anyone who reads breitbart and quotes the faux populist Santorum who:

champions the working people of Pittsburgh while he owns a multi million dollar home in Leesburg, Virginia;

himself has a B.A. in political science, an M.B.A. from the University of Pittburgh, and a J.D. from the Dickenson School of Law but who tells people not to send their kids to college [8|];

couldn't win reelection to his Senate seat from Pennsylvania;

made excuses for the Catholic priests' child abuse scandals by blaming them on Liberalism and moral relevancy in the seminaries and on the Liberal community of Boston, MA [see Wiki];

and had to withdraw his children from their Pennsylvania charter school when challenged over their Pennsylvania state residency. [see the Wiki article]

Is that the Rick Santorum whose words have merit to denigrate the achievements of Rachel Maddow and others who worked so hard for their education? [:-]

Really Hill,when was this ?
You must be referring to a time prior to my joining,as I have no recollection of any "better logic" posts [8|]

The sane one used to be better with his logic.

As I said,must have been before my time......

Good question. Maybe they get so sick of reading on these forums about how ignorant the right is, that they just feel the need to sling some shit back. Or maybe they are jealous because they don't have the same education. Or maybe they just like poking at people. We may never know.

But in any case, now I know who Rachel is and that has to be worth something[8D]

erieangel -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/28/2012 8:57:46 AM)

Rachel is one of the smartest talking heads out there.  She explains things thoroughly and in a manner that is hard to argue with.  And she doesn't just go after the righties.  If a progressive or a democrat is behaving badly, she lets people know.  Recently, she even slammed PolitiFacts for their stupidity in their recent attempts to appear more "balanced".

I have known about her for years. Im curious as to why others dont at least listen to opposing points of view.

Sort of funny, he was found out to have been sending 5 of his children to attend a cyber school here, something the state pays for at 80%, but only available to Pennsylvania residents. He argued the point.. and lost.. to the tune of 70,000+ dollars. At which time he complained that his kids were being used for political attacks and took them out of the program.

He can mouth the words that he supports the people of Pittsburgh. Very few here believe him.

But, back on point, Rachel recently took Politifact to task.

"PolitiFact, what is wrong with you?!" she cried. "You think the president calls himself 'Businesses' like it's a nickname for himself? ... what are you talking about?"

As she noted, PolitiFact later changed its rating of the statement after an outcry of, as she put it, "half of the English-speaking Internet." PolitiFact's new rating, though, failed to mollify the MSNBC host, since the group revised its assessment to just "Mostly True."

This prompted what is surely the most impassioned rant heard on "The Rachel Maddow Show" for some time:

"PolitiFact, you are fired. You are a mess! You are fired! You are undermining the definition of the word fact in the English language by pretending to it in your name. The English language wants its word back. You are an embarrassment. You sully the reputation of anyone who cites you as an authority on fact-ishness, let alone fact. You are fired."

The woman pulls very few punches.

Because then they would have to think Tazzy...while it may not be "free thinking" but at least question what they believe.
Listening to coulter , listening to hannity, listening to breitbart is like suffering an anal fissure, but Ive learned a lot.
Its a shame that the most apparent dislike of maddow is based on her looks, not her ability.
But then considering the sources, is just another lesson.
And why so many are now passed over.

Edwynn -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/28/2012 9:44:42 AM)

But we are not talking about 'balanced' people here, the OP especially, alongside some few commentators in the thread. Unless we were to take the "fair and balanced" news crowd at their word on this extravagantly contorted sense of  'balance,' in any event.

The OP claims that nobody knows who she is, but from his efforts here in starting a thread in her honor, it is quite telling that he wants everybody to know who she is by this expedient. "Girlfriend pride" seems to be running amok here, along with the the issue of her not in fact being available as a girlfriend to anyone.

She isn't blonde, does not wear 4" heels and a really short skirt and cleavage-exposing blouse, does not welcome the man as he walks in the door by kneeling in front of him and saying "Hi, Daddy!" ... therefore, she "looks like a man."

Yes, I think there are some serious issues concerning concept of "manhood" here, especially those promulgating that Rachel Maddow "looks like a man."

A man (if he in fact is that) who looks at Rachel M. and says that she looks like a man has some serious issues going on here, eyesight and perceptive ability, at the least.

There is a round table group on Fox that I like to listen too if I catch it on. I cant remember the name, but there are typically 5 people, men and women. I caught it one day and listened as the women were complaining about why the GOP candidates were attacking each other and not Obama. Two of the men just stared at them, slowly shook their heads and responded "Because its the GOP Primary".

I had to laugh at that "duh" moment.

Lucylastic -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/28/2012 9:54:01 AM)

Ya I did the fox progs... to see the level of despondency over the primaries the other week.
Interesting, enlightening, but still like playing with a bamboo splinter on the soul.
I think the jealousy comes from her being on tv and not just radio, and she has no oxycontin issues, hasnt been caught forging or editing videos(yet) and her sexuality is brought up only as an excuse

tazzygirl -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/28/2012 10:01:13 AM)

I havent seen her bring up anyone else's sexuality... except to point out the hypocrisy of other people's words.

Lucylastic -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/28/2012 10:05:00 AM)

OH I meant from her detractors[:D]
except there was that clip discussing "teabagging" winks.... but it wasnt her own sexuality brought into question:)

tazzygirl -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/28/2012 10:07:39 AM)

they brought that one on themselves.. lol

It strikes me as a bit of cowardly behavior when someone criticizes another's looks from a forum post that lacks a photo of the poster.

I would guess her standards are higher than yours, which kind of rules you out. I thought the days of "if a woman has a brain shes probably a man" were dead and buried.

I would guess you need a course in reading comprehension. I said nothing about a brain. I said she *looked* like man.

Looking like a woman does not automatically make someone a lady either

Absolutely true. Indeed that is fact many modern women refuse to acknowledge.

You do realize there are millions of women who do actually look like women, yet who do not fit that narrow little description you gave, right?

Not even a little bit correct. You see, the first time I ever saw her was in one of those stupid little PSA commercials MSNBC likes to run so often. She was wearing thick-framed glasses that would make any military basic trainee cringe, a hoodie and had extremely short, mannishly-styled hair. I said "Who is that effeminate-looking dude?" And one of my coworkers laughed told me who she was. Then whole-heartedly agreed with my previous assessment.

In today's world, there are many people who do not look like the gender they are. Some do this on purpose. It's no reason to get butthurt over it.

Never thought I'd see someone get butthurt over someone else's opinion of a "talking head" on TV. That's a new one on me.

Yeppers ...... tres sexy. She can have me any time she likes. [:D]

I have higher standards, I guess. I prefer my women to actually *be* ladies.

It's pretty clear, from your post, that you have yet to discover that the brain is the sexiest organ in the body.

Should I be glad for you that this wonderful discovery lies ahead of you, and that some day, you might accidentally stumble across it? Or should I be sad that, on the evidence to date, this insight is likely to forever escape you?
