and right wingers hate her because she is openly gay and is capable of thinking for herself

I couldn't care who she sleeps with...I abhor modern feminism. I think it is a bunch of lies.

To each their own.

Could you define what you mean by "modern feminism" and maybe give us some examples of it today?

The original feminists, such as Susan B. Anthony, embraced their femininity and knew that while men and women were different, they were equal in dignity and should have similar opportunities, but did not seek to lower the standards. If a woman wanted to compete with men, it was on an equal playing field, without lowering the standards for one gender over the other.

Modern feminists, such as Gloria Steinem, eschew it. Modern feminism says you must act like a man in order to be equal to one. Modern feminism hates motherhood and is full of misandry .

Well,we don`t live stereo types and Steinem isn`t the empress of feminism.

Your images of "Modern feminism" are the ones created by it`s critics and are hardly accurate.

I bet fewer people know who Steinem is than know who Rachel Maddow is.

I think what most feminists think feminism is(myself included) is fair play, fair pay and everyone getting a chance.

Which unfortunately is the case presently.

I've seen you play some strange little word games, but I think this one deserves some kind of award. Saying someone is fat is judging them by their character and not looks? Yea right tazzy.

Do you bother to read any posts on threads?
Yes, I do. Now maybe you can tell me what they have to do with you making the statement "However, I do believe its a shame that we rip apart women based upon looks, while ignoring their male counterparts looks and judge them solely upon character." All I did was point out that people do judge and criticize men based on their looks.

This statement only holds relevance if you assert that you find no men attractive or "beautiful." I simply made a statement indicating that I thought she liked like an effeminate man or, at best, a bull dyke lesbian. Which I personally don't find attractive in a woman.

I do not state that a man is feminine or ugly simply because his looks do not appeal to me personally because I am aware he may appeal to others.

Honestly, I am sure there are other things you can find wrong about this woman other than her looks, which is a result of her genetic makeup. I do hope you arent saying she looks like a "bull dyke" because she has short hair.

There is quite a few posts before and after you snarked in. All based upon her facial features. In typcal fashion, and without reading the thread, assumptions are made.
Yes, I read those. And I think it is really stupid to judge her on her looks. But that doesn't have anything to do with your comment being wrong.

It might be a very good idea to actually read before shoving your foot in your mouth.
Or you could admit that your statement was wrong, but no I am not going to hold my breath waiting.

My statement wasnt wrong.

No place did I say that. You do love to try and shov words into someone else's mouth.

Of course you will. Its what you do best.

Surely the most widely accepted definition of feminism is that it's about giving women the right to choose.

Right. All your posts here, going batshit crazy, "protesting (way) too loudly" about any political concerns and denial of sexual orientation concerns, there not mentioning a thing about what she says or how valid or not what she says, but just about the glasses she was wearing in your one related instance, so we are to have it.

Dude, seriously, I have to ask again. What thread are you reading? "Batshit crazy?" Really? Because I said some chick looked like a man the first time I saw her? Sheesh.

You got serious problems neither she or I would care to deal with. Nor much anyone else.

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you. You're obviously posting messages to the wrong board with all the wild accusations you've been making so far. I don't know whose posts you're reading, but they aren't mine.

Ah yes the oh so unoriginal internet insult of needing "reading comprehension" when faced with a differing opinion. Wow you haz teh clever all sewn up. [8|].

Yeah..about as clever as you are bringing out the good ol' "asshole card" just because you disagree with my opinion. "Hello pot? This is kettle, you're black!"

My education is at this stage in my life fairly complete so you'll have to cope. Or not. I'll be ok, trust me.

Yet the evidence would seem to indicate otherwise. Hey I cope with people like you all the time. You provide an endless source of laughter at your stupidity and lack of reading ability.

Oh I know you won't. Because if you did, you'd realize I was right. However you don't want to click the link because you don't want to take the risk that you're wrong (which you are).

DarqueMirror -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/31/2012 2:38:29 PM)

Since you all don't want to click on the link I posted (for fear of being proven wrong) I thought I'd post the pics myself. A simple google images search is really all you need to see that the way she appears on her show is not the way she always is. (Could it possibly be that it was one of these non-show times that I first saw her? Gasp!)

Yeah....she's real feminine. All she needs is some red/blue spandex and she could be Spiderman....Tobey McGuire's version or the new one:

Well said. It cracks me up when I see articles in the news about women wanting to "try" front-line combat, yet they also have to do half or less than half of all the physical requirements the men do. You can't participate in half of the front-line combat. When the bullets start to fly, the enemy doesn't care if you can't pull your buddy out of the line of fire. They'll shoot you both just the same.

LaTigresse -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/31/2012 2:50:04 PM)

If you think she is a shining example of a non feminine woman you really should visit Iowa City. Some of the women in this town would make Rachel Maddow look like Princess Barbie.

I have no doubts. There are mannish women everywhere. And now, with this lovely trend toward "metrosexuality," there are girlish men everywhere as well. I was at an event recent where the group I was with saw a couple of women walking up to us....long hair, skinny jeans, nail polish, etc. Only when they got within 10 feet did we realize they were just feminine-looking guys. So sad. And the pussification of the American male continues.

LaTigresse -> RE: Who Is Rachel Maddow? (1/31/2012 2:56:39 PM)

Only sad for those that feel threatened by it.

Myself, I fully support a person expressing themselves however they wish, in this regard. I feel no less a woman when in the company of a woman with a masculine appearance or a man with a feminine appearance.

I always question the self confidence of a man or woman that finds it offensive.

Your words say a great deal more about you than I think you would like.

Wow. All that from one commercial, eh? the single and only experience from this you claim as being the fount of your non-obsession.

Yeah, I think we've got it figured out here. Thanks.

Who said I found it threatening or offensive? I simply said she was unattractive. There are unattractive people everywhere (I should know, since I consider myself one of them). None of them threaten or offend me.

But as the saying goes: "If we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at?" I laugh at myself constantly, therefore I have carte blanche to laugh at whomever I choose. Taking that a step further, as I consider myself unattractive, I have no problem pointing it out in others.
