And here in minnesota, where we should be laying with alaska in that 40 below zero weather, we are at 48 degrees above zero.
Maybe he was trying to say that.

5900 extra deaths a year by 2050? Shit, is that all? Hardly will meet our Malthusian needs to off-set the burgeoning world population. Really, war is much more efficient. [8|]

considering 35 people die from gun murders alone every day in the US
I dont see that making much of a dent in anything an american thinks,

I thought this article explained it rather well.

GotSteel -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 10:57:55 AM)

I realized that when things are bad enough that we're issuing warning that it isn't safe to go outside today because there's too much smog I don't need to wait around for definitive proof that said smog is changing the climate before wanting to do something about it.

servantforuse -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 10:59:52 AM)

I don't think there will be many icecaps melting in Alaska this year.

GotSteel -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 11:10:13 AM)

P.S. It's not winter in NH, how exactly is that not climate change? Now if off to go jogging on this nice spring day.

See Zonie......You draw them a diagram and they STILL cant see the bigger picture.

servantforuse -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 11:31:46 AM)

My 5 year old grand daughter can draw better than that. Besides, it's just one more slanted opinion .

Lucylastic -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 11:40:10 AM)

At least its an educated opinion

So 110 years of the science regards CO2 is wrong.......because it has been cold in Alaska this month ?

Are you really serious ?

servantforuse -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 11:48:26 AM)

Some guy doing a science project in a bath tub means absolutly nothing to me. Believe what you want.

Are you really that ignorant that you actually think the diagram is a science project in a bathtub?

I doubt it.

But pretty pictures aren't what makes it true or not.

mnottertail -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 12:11:17 PM)

Nope, real science makes that true, and the picture is not pretty.

I'll agree that a picture doesn't make it true but it's a pretty good representation of the Carbon cycle.

I repeat my earlier question, though. If only leftists believe things are warming, why then is Exxon/Mobile making plans for exploitation of seabottom that is presently and has for the last several hundred thousand years been covered by ice cap. Are they leftists?

Is Vladmir Putin a leftist? Russia is right now pressing for territorial rights to seabed that is now covered by icecap off their northern coast.

I dunno, Hill, but doesn't prove anything about AGW, even if all that you posted above is true (not that I doubt you).

Have you heard about the new 2012 Edsel?  How about them 2006 Deloreans?  Pretty neat, ain't they?  I heard that Studebaker had a real neat car coming out next year ... wait ....

And I heard that the Otteman Empire was getting a new monarch soon ... no, crap.  Maybe it was the Holy Roman Empire?

Firm

mnottertail -> RE: Settled Science (1/31/2012 12:52:42 PM)

You have been hearing much about politics and cars and rumors of politics and cars, but not much in the way science,( not AGW, no understanding of why you conflate that here) but the carbon cycle and our fucking with it.

That carbon cycle is not Faux Nuze rumor.

LOL. you prob know my theory on AGW. Things are warming but I have no proof of the A part.

Better to be safe than sorry, though and in the process put the shaft to those people in OPEC who have been doing some serious CBT to the American public for 60 years.

Sure, there will be some millionaires made in the alternative energy business. Let's make sure they're AMERICAN millionaires. Let's make those construction and manufacturing jobs American jobs.

Well, to me, the math is pretty easy to grasp. 9.1 billion metric tons per year into the atmosphere minus 5 billion metric tons per year absorbed naturally equals 4.1 billion metric tons remaining in the atmosphere.

I think sometimes, there's this tendency to ignore problems where the consequences won't be visited upon us in our own lifetimes.

I fully agree.

I think the notion offered by some Republicans on here that this is left wing propaganda is not only bullshit, but potentially dangerous bullshit.
