I don't think his relationship history should be a factor one way or another. He seems to have an unpleasant character which is of course a problem for the election but it leads to the question as to whether it should be so based on character. Any political office is first and foremost a job, and if any employer discriminated against a prospective employee based on their personal life it could potentially be a legal matter - not sure exactly what the law is there in the US but I assume there is some sort of law appertaining to that issue. There are differences when it comes to voting of course but the principle remains the same - that you should evaluate people solely in relation to their potential to do the job well.

Being a Narcissist or Sociopath would affect his ability to do the job well. Do you think someone with no conscience  should be commander in chief of the US military?

AFAIK narcissm is a fairly mildish personality defect so don't think it would necessarily hamper a given person's ability to do the job well, if they are otherwise experienced politicians. Being a sociopath is a different matter, and as you rightly say, such a person shouldn't be head of the US military but when one is talking about a serious mental illness that would be a pretty major claim that would require verification by professionals. Someone who seems like a socio may just be a callous individual. BTW I didn't mean to indicate my post was directly in reply to yours - I should have stated "FR".

Well, we're going to elect a President, this year...even if only 1 person in the entire country votes(not sure what happens if NO ONE votes). Newt is no JFK, or even FDR, but the country could do worse than elect him.

Well, yes we could, actually: we could elect Charles Manson.

I said we 'could do worse', but no, we couldn't elect Charlie. Felons are not eligible for elected office...or to vote for a candidate.

Should we have a poll on "Who's the craziest : (a) media psychiatrists; (b) the idiots who pay them; or (c) the idiots who believe them" ?

My guess is that the poll result would be a close-run thing.

c. - The first two are in it for the money.

Might they be subs/slaves/masochists, per chance? It's the only logical reason the second and third would even look at him, at least.

I kind of take personal offense to this. Just because I am maso-sub does NOT mean I have lost my sanity or good taste. I can't speak for his wives as to what drew them to him, but I think it's not fair to demean maso-subs in this way....[>:]

I know of no law preventing someone with a felony from running for President.

Some states do allow someone with a felony conviction to vote.

Sorry, no offense intended. I just can't help but wonder why #2 and #3 would hook up with such a slimeball. Could it be some kind of kink?

Who can answer the mutual attraction thing?

But I will say this, there are people who are attracted to men who they view as "powerful" and "successful" - not in a kink power way, I just mean in the regular vanilla world, power attracts. So that is likely what attracted #2 and #3. But I would be hard pressed to say if this reflects anything about an interest in kink. In their own weird way, they feel they have a "catch". And who are we to argue - attraction is such a personal thing. I know many men who are with women who aren't very nice. I know why they are attracted to these women, but it has nothing to do with kink. People make bad choices sometimes. Or people choose what they ultimately really want to have. Again, attraction is a personal thing.

I've been in touch with my kink side for long enough to know that my taste in men has not really changed - I just search for men who are also into BDSM. It's not as if my standards are lower because I'm searching for a BDSM Dominant. I don't think we should view the kink world as insecure submissives searching for slimeball Dominants [&:]
