Too bad you guys just missed Shibaricon in Chicago last weekend.

Bondage stuff really is best learned by doing.  Find a local community, or go see a teacher, or buy a book and go slowly through positions.

There are some websites out there that can give you the basics. This is a good one:

http://www.nawashibari.com/

Also, check out the book The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage by Fetish Diva Midori. You can order it on Amazon.Com.

If you can catch one of Midori Sensi's tutorials GO! She is a seriously good communicator and a delight to watch. Also ask her about oral sex. The book is great, a clear introduction to her flavour of shibari and the illustrations are fabulous.

I've seen her before and I think you'll enjoy her work. Oh and if she tells you the Japanese word for "pervert" you should then ask her what "hentai" means.

I would also suggest you look inot some of the main riggers of the scene today...such as Master K who hails from Canada but lives in the States as far as I know ...he has just put out a very highly regarded book on shibari, along with his spirtual understanding of what 'rope' means to him..Lew Rubens is also a force in shibari to day,he has a few tutorials out on cd as well which are brilliant.....also check out Randa Mai's tutorials on cd...he is ONE of japane's most revered kinbaku artist of this time,(however he and others have stated that experimenting with suspension bondage shoudl be done with an expert at all times until your dominant has been trained properly,as this rope art, like any heavy bondage can cause permenant  damage or worse) ...and in many riggers opinions the mother of all shibari sites on line is www.kikkou.com... another wonderful rigger is Bridgett Harrington who is also offering her knowledge and techniques across the country if she comes to your town definatly check her out...and lastly,wwwjapanbondage.tv..has steaming video that is direct from Tokyo and is enjoyable for many reasons if not to at least get a feel of the pros in action..(it is a pay site)

Difficult how?  Why?  You said he wants to learn, yes?

Midori is going to be in Kansas City in August as well.

Okay, since you are in New Jersey that is not really helpful, but I felt obligated to post it for some reason.

Hello everyone, not all Midori's workshops are focused on shibari,if you are interested in being part of her rope tutorials ,look for her "rope dojos",that will be when she is teaching shibari or at a least rope bondage of some sort. Good luck and have fun.

ps.Lady Rope,I have seen you in nyc doing your thing with rope and it was to say the least hypnotic, thank you,
