Well, things aren't what they "used" to be.

Really???we still have bigots...what else is new?

The U.S. is a mature country

How old does a country need to be to be "mature"?

and we really don't "need" anymore immigration.

Opinions are like assholes...it seems like most everyone has one and most everyone feels theirs works best for them.

Especially from third world countries where a sixth grade education is like college there and the average person has little to no skills.

Perhaps you might look up what "third world" means. Then you might want to look up the educational levels of say singapore or lichtenstien.

If we need Doctors, Nurses, Engineers we can import them for a time until we don't and then have them return to their home countries.

You seem to be saying that the ama which controls the number of doctors and nurses in this country is creating an artificial shortage?

I don't understand why everytime we let someone in it should involve U.S. Citizenship.

That is what immigration is all about...didn't you get the memo?

Also, we need to end any immigration from Mexico,

What is the current immigration quota from mexico?

Central America and the Carribean countries as they're the biggest offenders of our laws.

Who knew that bermuda and grenada were breaking our immigration laws?

It's not the 1800's anymore when we needed millions of unskilled laborers. Now we have about 25 million illegal aliens here

Perhaps you might give us some validation for that number?

who are wreaking havoc and cost us $113 B last year

Once again your post contains more fiction than fact.

and unless our government starts enforcing our laws.
In the 1880's 90% of doctors didn't go to college

Your point would be?

and if you needed a tooth pulled you went to the barber. A horse and buggy worked very well in those days but not today.
Look at China and Japan, two advanced economic powerhouse countries who don't have any immigration.
If immigration is such a "good" thing then why aren't all countries doing it?

So you would like us to be more like communist china or racist japan?

my twice-great paternal grandfather owned a number of textile factories in an insignificant state in new england from which he would periodically shit can most of his workers only to replace them with immigrants for pennies on the dollar

It sounds like Old Tom Rodgers who owned Globe Mfg in Fall River/ New Bedford area.

Not saying that's your ancestor... but it sure sounds like him.

Only way you can stop economic immigration is to stop poverty

Indeed. Both countries. Reducing poverty in the US would reduce the currently high demand for importing of cocaine from south of the border, which in turn would greatly reduce the condition of their countries being essentially run by drug lords, which would then reduce poverty- not to mention many civilian deaths, thereby reducing emigration from those countries to the US to escape the war zone.
