There was a big discussion about this. Someone in the IRS supposedly has the idea that things like online swords and land and what not are virtual assets, since they're bought and sold on Ebay--and are therefore taxable. I have an idea: instead of going after a virtual Sword of Buttfucking +3, why not tax Exxon? quote: ORIGINAL: Padriag This Second Life game is nuts! And you really believe that the reason why Exxon gets subsidies is that we're "somewhat socialistic"? Wow. I guess they didn't cover crony capitalism in Econ 1.

I'm sort of butting into this, but what subsidies does Exxon get? I seriously can't think of any. I mean, I abhor energy companies ripping off the public, but I can't think of how the gov't helps them get away with it.

Read about the Energy Policy Act of 2005. I mean, I'm sorry to have to say this, but if you "seriously can't think of any" subsidies that Exxon gets, you aren't very well informed.
