All that stuff up there.. that stuff I just wrote is based on the idea that creation is the image of God.

Here's a different exegesis:

You are exactly as God would be if he was born into your body, raised by your parents, experienced all the joys and disappointments that you have experienced, the moments of elation and the moments of suffering, the luck and the injustices, the love and the losses, if he had walked in your shoes since the moment you were born, forgetting who he really was, and that you were his image...

Just as you have forgotten.

Kirata the Mystic

And that's why Orange Sunshine (no facetiousness intended)

Yeah, well.. menopause. What can I say, I have forgotten lots of stuff. [;)]

You know what it is, really.. I think humans rock and I just don't need or want to be more than human and sometimes I want to be a little less than that and in moments I am. Those less than moments help me from being arrogant which is in me, and other things help me in other ways which is one of the reasons I explore as many places as I can, externally like other countries and internally to get to know all my facets. The extremes are still just moments though and speak to potential of some sort whether it's the potential to fly or to fall. If there are Others by whatever name someone wants to call them, Gods, Aliens.. it doesn't matter, I'll probably think they rock, too. I'm personable that way. And if it turns out they're BEM's* who wanna probe me...

Mr. Scott can beam me out anytime he's ready. [:D]

*for the ungeekinated:BEM = Bug Eyed Monster aka Big Eyed Monster but only if you're dorky. Stick with Bug Eyed.. it works.

First, how presumptious of you to assume that god...whom you have never met...is a he.

It's not a presumption. English grammar specs the male pronoun as default for unknown gender. Conservation of ink, electrons and page space might apply as well.

What would b the the default pronoun for genderless....presumptiousness assumes gender.

Second, isnt the nature of a belief in a supreme being the requirement of faith? If god were to be proved where would that leave the value of faith?

1) Goddamn, man, it's just a fucking pronoun.
2) Value of faith? What value? What would one have faith in? Why?

That was my point. Christian theology requires one to have faith in order to be "saved". If god is proved then it pretty much eliminates the faith requirement to get into heaven. Without faith all religion ceases to exist.

Your god seems to have all the aspects of a school yard bully..."gimme your lunch money or I will fuck you up big time".
Sounds like a punk ass motherfucker to me.

Wonder what you mean by "embrace?" Do you mean to give the big lug a hug? Would we have Give God A Hug Day?

What could be "proof" short of an incarnation at a specific time/place and in specified form with prior announcement of coming attractions?

Would theists despair if they had proof that God was dead, or that there never was a God? Of course I realize proof of negation is not possible. At least no one has suggested what form it would take other than the usual debate over the effectiveness of prayer. Regardless of the likely improbability, would theists "embrace" their new reality?

Pondering . . . .

The "God" of the bible does... how accurate you wish to view that is up to you after all the translations.

Tazzy, do you really think that God wants to be bombarded with billions of prayers 24/7?
("BOY,.....THOSE MUSLIMS ARE WAAAAY OVERDOING IT!" "FIVE TIMES A DAY?" "LET'S GIVE THEM LOW I.Q.'S!)
I think God created us for his/her/it's own entertainment, why any other reason? The randomness of life should bolster that argument though of course not prove it.
And that crazy guy "John" who lived in a cave and had "visions"! Sheesh! I think him and Nostrodamus had the same brain illness.
If you notice, guys like that *always* go out into the forest/desert/mountains etc *ALONE*, never anyone was with them and then come back and tell us all about God!
How come people don't do that today?
A.P. "The Denver Post reported that today 46 more "visionaries" came down from the Rockie Mountains after a month and started giving out 46 different stories about "God."
"That's 8 more than came down yesterday said police cheif......"

People should be able to resist their god seducing them. Just think of that guy trying to invent the perfect sex robot (easy to avoid those types).

The other week god appeared to me in the guise of a sexy ?M?istress I knew it was him because he had just walked on Walter.

This is one of the mysteries of the Christian faith. Why would God bother? Why does He love us so? Love often has this character. Love is often a fact of life. Christianity regards His love as a wonderful fact of life.

You do realize the irony in the fact that the primary definition of seduce is "to lead astray," right?

Handing Kirata the booby prize for being on point. But what you are saying does not merely apply to god-man/woman relationships, but also man-woman relationships, or any other combination. There is cause to be suspicious of anything that is seductive.

Religion as we presently understand it. Some have faith in ET. If ET should land on the White House lawn tomorrow, would ET cease to exist?

Most everyone can't seem to wrap their heads about the possibility something other than the material exists. Still, suppose God was ET. ET lands and is amorous towards you because ET find humans exciting and suppose ET has what is needed to play us like a fiddle.
