i am having a problem with my monitor. Perhaps someone might be able to tell me...is there any way to fix the damage caused by a large magnet being put up to the monitor screen by a five year old???

The screen now has a large dark spot that simply will not go away - the puter has been rebooted and i've checked the settings, but i have no clue what to do with most of them. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe i should go get my shovel now...so i can give it a decent burial?

Degauss the monitor. If that doesn't fix it, you're probably out of luck.

I suggest reading the manual that came with your monitor for instructions on degaussing. Some monitors have a dedicated degauss button, on others, you need to navigate through the on-screen display menus to find that function. If it's an older monitor, there may not even be a degauss function and in that case, you have a very big paperweight.
