I haven't had my juicer available for awhile, can't wait till I can get back to it. One of my more often juices was 3-4 medium/large carrots, one apple, 2 stalks celery and yes, the ginger. Carrot/celery/beet is good, but as you have been warned above, go easy on the beets in the beginning. Two-three carrots, spinach, dark leaf lettuce, one celery, with (optional) 1/8 to 1/4 of a lemon- rind and all (less at first, use to taste). Fruit juice; (primarily) grapes, 1/2 apple, 1/2 stalk celery, same amt. lemon as previous, less ginger than with a carrot juice if you use it here. The Jack LaLanne is good for a cheap juicer, that's what I have at the moment (or will soon). There are better juicers for a good bit more money. To get the blade/screen off, pull up by the plastic base beneath all that; a mild jack-hammer-like action from underneath. The JL juicer is not the most efficient, but if you start gardening juicer pulp is great compost. When I juiced a lot I went through two stout Champion juicers (~ two yrs ea.) because I put coconut through them a lot, maybe not always as slowly as I should have. Which is why I did not give you a coconut/carrot 'milk of gods and godesses' recipe (it's that good) because trying that with the JL juicer might give you one ounce then bye-bye juicer. In any case, once you've gone through a few recipes, you'll just start making it up as you go. That's where the fun is. I'm glad to hear of your good experience with the smoothies, and hope your juicing adventures go at least as well.
