I've never heard of it being done for men but hey when everyone's drunk I'm sure it happens.

Seeing as you're going to a play party I'm guessing they're just expecting everyone to be naked anyway and anyone can give anyone beads for whatever reason you want. I dunno. Those are questions for the play party sponsor I'm guessing.

Everyone was told to bring beads, not just the males. I don't know what an old friend of mine flashed in NOLA, cuz he said he got lots of beads... I cannot imagine a BDSM play party being the same as in the streets of New Orleans. (I never went there, though mom and my sister did. Said the streets reeked of piss and alcohol, lol. Neither made it to NOLA for Mardi Gras.) I doubt we will be painted in latex, drunk, and pissing all over her living room.

The last play party I went to was my first one. There was no theme and I only saw one person naked...but there were some lovely corsets and someone wore a black lace body stocking under hers. I left after maybe two hours because my pain levels were too high and I wanted some alone time with my boyfriend/sub, maybe everyone got nekkie after I left.

I stayed away from munches and play parties because of distance (believe it or not, when you live deep in the sticks there are sometimes no munch groups within a three hour drive) and because I was doing just fine on my own. I'm a curious sort though, and now that we have three groups to go to...YAY! I have a lot of catching up to do.

It's interesting meeting other people in groups, but I dislike not knowing what to expect...so this is why I am asking. Some of you have been going to munch groups since before I had my epiphany, and I hoped to hear about past Mardi Gras themed BDSM play parties.

This is the real tradition of mardi gras. Most college students and vacationers go to the french quarter thinking bourbon street is "where it's at" but this is simply not true. The parades and celebrations of mardi gras dont even go through the french quarter, it's everywhere else. What you seen on T.V. and internet is not where the really cool shit is.

Although if you are drunk and horny the french quarter is a great place to go, it's where all the strip clubs and dive bars are.

It sounds so fun! I've always wanted to go see the sights in NOLA during Mardi Gras and that talk of piss was true but...also sour grapes. The only thing I know about it is what an old friend told me years ago...and I'm sure my memory has failed me on a lot of things. He was also the type who hung around Burbon St., lol, and only showed me pix from there and nowhere else.

This late at night...I almost typed Mardi Gras as Mardis Gras. Repeatedly. Aargh.

I am still recovering from my glee of having to look through scores of Valentine's Day cards at our local Dollar Tree earlier. Another requirement of a play party. Anyway, deciding between cutesie Dixie Cup type jokes, Valentines that folded up into paper airplanes, Harry Potter ones, etc., I finally decided on Pirates of the Carribean(sp?) for my boy and...mwahahaha...I cannot believe I did this but I completely dropped my dignity at the door and bought some scratch and sniff ones for myself. Banana splits and stuff like that. I couldn't find any of those fold over ones with the lollipop inside, as was requested. Gah.

Sounds like new orleans alright. Even when it's not mardi gras season, that city has a distinct, rather horrid smell.

I was probably being unfair about quoting their description...New Orleans is on or near a swamp, right? The gators might be stinky.

As for the part about muggings and horrible things...I am sad to hear of these as it reminds me of how dangerous it was when I lived in Los Angeles and later on in the San Fernando Valley. We try to be as safe as we can be...and if ever I'm in NOLA for Mardi Gras, I will keep this in mind and try to find better areas of town.
