LadyHibiscus -> Yoga and Pilates (2/11/2012 1:35:29 PM)
So okay I have found a good yoga studio (thanks to a client) and once the season is over I am going to start doing that... and the Pilates, which I like too.
My question is, what kinds of yoga do you find the most helpful? I am trying to regain my flexibility and balance and am NOT doing my former routines of free weights and some machines. Though dang I miss heavy leg presses... ANYWAY! I tend to bulk up and build big muscles and I want to have a Streamlined Self now.
I do not do well in heat, and the Vinyasa is somewhat skeery to me. But I am willing to work my way up to that if it will help.
Comments?

I don't do heat well either, LH so Bikram yoga is out for me, I did try it once and found the experience miserable and kind of embarrassing: I had to leave so I wouldn't pass out or ... [:'(].

Yes, I have a vision of passing out and hitting my head...the only part of my body with no padding...

The yoga I do rocks. It's very mellow and involves a lot of stretching, balance work, core work. She doesn't push us to do crazy dangerous stuff and always gives people optional, and safe, ways to do things if we have a reason we can't do it the way she does.
I love how she stresses that it should NEVER hurt.
I cannot imagine doing any of the hot yoga stuff. I don't dig heat.

I can't recall the named, but I do certain poses for my back. Those and my foam roller are where it's at.
