Ok, so I have it on good authority a Kindle Touch is on the way. (and I'm actually quite pleased!)
My question is, can I start an account now and start adding books to my library or do I have to wait for the Kindle to get here?
Also, I will be using HM's Prime Account because as the "prime" holder of the Amazon Prime account, (which we LOVE btw) he gets special perks that I don't. (and he doesn't have a Kindle) is there anything I need to watch out for there?
I'm very excited to get started!

I'm not so sure about all the "HM Blah blah" you posted there, perks and all that. Not a clue.

However, You can open a Kindle account, and download the PC/Laptop application, which will allow you to start building a Library and reading on-screen, should you wish.

When eventually the device is in your possesion, you you should be able to transfer everything.

Yes, you can hold things in your Amazon account and then send them to your Kindle when it arrives.

I'll bite, if HM doesn't have a kindle, then how is he using the Amazon Prime? Are there things other than borrowing books you can do with it?

Doc, HM is the OP's dominant.

Amazon Prime's # 1 benefit is the free two-day shipping.

Christina, before you buy books, check out your library's ebook selection.

If you or HM are technically inclined, I can point you towards a workaround if they only have epub format and not Kindle.

I'm nerdy enough to have found that out, but I may be asking questions regarding which ones work the best! : )

The Kindle touch is just a wonderful little gadget! It's perfect for what I wanted it for. It's very well made, and I've read lots of cool stuff with it! I will add some great links tomorrow.
Just wanted to let you know the verdict.
I highly recommend this device if you're looking for a device that is almost strictly a reader, but with sound capabilities for "read to me" and audio books.

Thank you. :) I know I have to convert them to another format, and right now, I'm using the e-books I'm ordering for a very specific purpose, so they have to be very specific books. But I'll def. browse there when I'm "just looking'.

You can stream movies and tv shows to your computer or tv. You don't have to watch them on your kindle. You also get discounts on a lot of stuff with a prime account.

Blushes, you should be able to get stuff and send it to your "cloud" and then download it to your kindle when it arrives. At least that is how it works with the fire.

You can only stream certain content for free. A lot of the movies/TV shows on amazon will still cost you (the free stuff will say watch for free and you can filter non-free stuff out of the lists). Not that I'm complaining, I have amazon prime. Just thought it was worth noting.
