Almost missed this, Steven. Thanks for the link. I think, sometimes, people start on a path when they are younger, and inflammed with passion, that they wish that they might not have gone on, but it's too late. Their entire lives are invested. But when you have kids ... and grandkids, and the wealth of hindsight, sometimes you try to keep your kids from taking the same path, and enduring the same hardships. I hope he kids and grand-kids listen to him. Firm

Interesting. I'm not sure how much plausibility to assign to the facts of that story, though, at several levels. There are many people in its context and events who'd have reason to push it forward for personal, political, etc reasons. (Not you, but bin-Laden, al-Salah, al-Qaeda etc, militant islam in general, and so forth.) And then there's the whole thing about offspring doing as their parents did, not as their parents said. Thanks for noting it, though. I'm just sort of cynical about the extent of arab-muslim byzantine intrigues.

bin-laden was fully an adult when he became radicalized and his successor al-zawahri,was a trained medical doctor when he became radicalized. We`ll see.
