I have to disagree as well Gauge.

Diana was a person - she had her faults just like everyone else.  Whether she was murdered or not just adds to the media hype and to conspiricy theories.

But a loss to the world?  No.

There are many great people who did alot for the world whos deaths are losses to the world.

Martin Luther King
Rosa Parks
Mother Theresa
Ghandi
Ernst Mayr
Fred Dibnah
Reagan
Sir Joseph Rotblat

To compare Diana to these people, just leaves me speechless.
(And yes, I am from the UK - I do support the Royal Family, although I am not a royalist)

I belive that Diana is worshiped more in the USA than in the UK or anywhere else.  But that is due to media coverage.

Peace and Rapture

The Queen I have a great deal of respect for, do wish she would challenge the politicians that are supposed to be 'her' government. But a great deal of respect.

Charles, I have always liked, quite a character. Doesn't always get it right but isn't afraid to speak his mind when he feels it is important to do so.

I won't vent full force as to what I thought of Diana. Self centered, neurotic, manipulative, two-faced, hypocritical media-whore should give you some indication.

For a comparison of at least one of the points. The princess royal did and still does far more for charity than Diana ever did, but almost nothing goes to the media. She does it because she can help rather than to get the publicity.

This comes as a surprise to me. Tho- I am listening intently to you. Real folks tell me more then US media. So- I do appreciate your post(s)

I view the queen as out of touch and stuffy. I remember a clip of a large black woman giving the queen a big hug. I sorta chuckled.

Us everyday- average people need to talk more- and especially across national boundaries. On many topics.

Thanks for answering my question.

regards-

Well, I must tell you that my statement was not to turn her into a saint or any such thing. Since I basically only followed this closely when it happened and since I am in the US the media made her appear to be larger than life and a great humanitarian. Just teaches me a lesson I suppose.

I meant no disrespect RM or Dark because I offered an opinion based on what I saw.
