ADORE this article, it speaks from my heart.

Most especially :
Can there be such a thing as too much self-confidence? One must consider that question regularly. So often women embrace a trend that is by all measures unflattering on them -- low-rise trousers, shrugs, miniskirts -- and yet they still strut proudly along the street, head held high, shoulders back. Is it petty and mean for a dear friend to pull such a woman aside and explain that today, at this moment, she is a blight on the scenery? Is that the duty of a true, honest pal? The renaissance of leggings may force more than a few friends to ponder that very dilemma.

Please people- wear clothes that fit AND look good on you, no matter what happens to be trendy.  Take the blow to the ego that your body just doesn't work for a baby doll style top, or low hip jeans...

Lucky......... I couldnt agree more.  But I'd like to add one more
little thing.  It's not only our figures that define what we can and shouldnt wear
that age factor comes into play also.  What is cute at 25 in many times
an eye sore at 45.  Just a heads up to take a look down!

It's sunny and warm here today and there are a few fashion crimes walking the streets, making the most of what little we get here. White legs or orange fake tanned legs in clothes too short or too tight. Broad butts that fight like two ferrets in a sack. Breasts in too small a bra or without a bra and no longer perky like they once were. One wonders if they have a mirror at home. It's a sign of a good friend to point out a few home truths, even if that friend never speaks to you again.

It's good being a man and just being able to wear reliable jeans and tee shirt and no one cares.

Women can do that too.

And trust me, jeans and tshirts can be train wrecks also if they are a bad fit, bad color, worn down or paired with the wrong accessories.

Men don't get a free pass.

What you see as ugly is beauty to someone else.  That is the benefit of having so many diverse personalities in the world.
We all have our quirks, what we like and what we don't care for.

Though a question to ponder, one a group I am in has been pondering the past couple of week's.

Those who are a slave to fashion, aren't they also slaves in a sense?  More easily dominated?  This is not a question about fashion but life in general, rather a broad spectrum.
For instance those who smoke, know it is bad for them.  Why did they start?  Peer pressure?  What was the reason?  What is the reason why they cannot stop now but weakness within them.  Making them a slave the the cigarette.
All addictions are held by weak people in some sense or another.  Could these same people be easily swayed a certain way by the right person doing the swaying?

I realize this question is over the heads of some...so take your hits.  I don't care.

Meat, with all due respect, WAKE UP!!  Men in T shirts and jeans can and do
pose as many gag's as women do.  Saggy Man Boobs, midrifts that ~dun lap~
down over the closing of jeans.  Loose jiggly bottoms in large ~comfortable~
pants and on occasion even the addition of that Orange Tan.  This Public Service
Notice covers us all!!

I'm a slave to fashion the same way an artist is a slave to art, or a musician is a slave to music.

It's my canvas, my world, my joy, my soul, it's how I express ME.

It's not allowing people to tell you what to wear or how to wear it- it's taking what's available to you and using it to its best ability in self-expression to the world.

Yes that is technically true though I think when it comes to really fat old women in tiny clothes with bits hanging out society as a whole as reached a consensus on the issue.

I have a certain penchant for what some people see as overpriced clothes though I usually find the people who criticize have not even taken the time to try them on. I know quality when it comes to the cut of a shirt and the quality of the material, If I find a good quality garment inexpensively then I buy it and I do actively seek out bargains though I find opportunities to do so increasingly rare. I don’t really follow fashion as such I tend just to go for classics with the exception of t-shirts, I can have outlandish taste in t-shirts. I cant remember who said it though I think it was someone really famous “fashion is for people who lack personal taste” I generally agree with that.

I don’t see myself as a fashion victim anymore than I see someone who collects stamps as a stamp victim, when I put on clothes I like to feel fabulous, looking good makes me happy.

I totally agree, you said it very well.
