I'm getting closer and closer to 50 all of the time, I'm single and I like to eat out. I don't use "eating out" as a carrot to win someone over. There are more people able to eat out that are younger then me than are my age -- male and female. I'm a musician and composer and work with various theatrical groups (in addition to designing robot things) so the age range of my friends is from about 22 to 67. I go to dinner and I enjoy their company. Sometimes I even like to have flirty conversations depending on who I'm with. To some people I'm sure it looks like I'm on a date or with my bf or gf. I'm not on a date nor am I with a person I'm romantically involved with. I did pay however. I don't consider any of those people my "fake" date. I don't think I got scammed when we don't marry or fuck at the end of the evening.

I can't help but think of it in those terms when I read these threads.
