I'm in my bed, with my space heater roaring something fierce straight on to my grateful old cat, I am eating two Samoas (Girl Scout cookies) and am settling in to read a John Grisham book.

Decidedly content at the moment.

You?

for me it has to be being outside with the animals, and if the day is good all the better. i like it when i bring the horses in onto a good thick, clean bed.

feeding my robin.

watching my dog when he finds a stick that he smiles around. seeing him bound around like a loon is shear joy.

chilling with the boy.

laid at the side of my playmate after sex listening to him read to me. actually we were chatting earlier about some of the couple we've listened to complaining that the partner never takes them anywhere, or that they always have to have something planned for the weekend. we on the other hand like nothing better than just being in each other's company and chilling. we snuggle up and chat nonscence, watch films, go for a stroll and look at bits of stuff stuck in the ground and....well stuff. sometimes i'm left wondering why people don't seem to want to be with this person they love and just chill. yeah doing things is great, but really....all the time?

i'm off to bed now and i shall be reading the last part of alastair reynold's chasm city. this is a book borrowed from my playmate and it smells of his place. my bed smells of patchouli which is also a smell of him.....joy.

I just got out of a horrendously busy day at work, all of my numbers were either perfectly on or above standard, and I'm about to settle in for a numtabulous dinner, put my tootsies up and watch The Walking Dead. ^_^ Yay!
Oh, and I have stickers. ^_^

It's blustery outside, a storm is blowing in and you can feel the barometer changing.  I closed the windows down to just an inch.  The house wench is at work so I put a steak in the cast iron skillet.  I have a beer in my hand and I'm watching the last bit of War Of Worlds.  I am wearing a t-shirt but have no pants on.

Later, I'll make some tea and go to bed.  I'll curl up with the Bushido Code or Market Place that are currently on the night stand.

A great cup of coffee, not having to go to work today, a good horror movie on tap, beans cooking in the crock pot with jerky rib eye steak for seasoning, Gabriel sleeping after giving me lovies and the sound of birds outside my sunshine lit window, learning to live in the NOW= Simple Joy

I'd be glad to share it with you.  Nothing like watching a movie together or reading to each other on a stormy night.

[eta:] or were you think about that delicious steak and the beer?  Either way, I'd share those too.

I know what ya meant, here, but for folks not even marginally familiar with the keeping of horses, I got the most amusing visual.

Simple joys...Sitting outside with a slight breeze, cuddling up to someone I'm very close to while reading a book...

Or take out book and sharing a candy bar. ^-^

I really like people. I mean I truly really like humanity. The breadth of it.. the depth of it. It's not all beautiful and I understand that. Anyway, when I come across bits of creativity that some human came up with that I would never in a hundred years thought of it makes me happy.

Any Rube Goldberg machine.

The Bowing Fountain

Yes, it's an ad but it makes me smile

OK Go " The Treadmill Video"

The opportunity to bring these things to mind. ;) Thanks for this thread.

for me, simple joy is spending real time laughing with my kids
you know that laugh that just won't stop, and everone is looking at you with raised eyebrows, and the kids are bright red cos mom's an embaressment?
or is that just me?
people should laugh more I think.

So many things at different times. A quick summary of some of them:

Big mug of hot, sweet, creamy tea
Netflix, esp. TV episodes
So many wonderful books - reading them and turning others onto them as well
"Coloring books and drinking wine" as the great Guy Clark says
Fried green tomatoes and good BBQ
Great sour tomatillo salsa and baja fruit tea

Hmmm, so much of my fun revolves around reading, tv, music and food. Besides love, what else is there to live for?

Simple joy is when you're kissing your 8 month old grandson and he turns and gives you a big, wet, open-mouthed, drooly kiss back!
