1. Click the "Search" button in the top right-hand corner of any of the message board pages.
2. Search for "Enema".
3. Your search will return a long list (many pages) of topics that mention "enema".  The "Forum" column is an indicator of the where that thread wound up, and it might help you decide which to focus on to read in answer to your question.

I'll ask Himself when he gets home. He's all into that enema shit, has presented on the subject and has scads of formulas. He may be willing to share.

Himself has sent me the formulas he has compiled but they are in a word doc and I'm not sure how to paste it to collarme. I can send you the attachment directly if you like. Just write me on the other side if you have the interest.

Normal saline is the recommended formula for any sort of frequent use, it's the least irritating to the bowel.

The formula for normal saline is 9.0g to 1L water.

I'm a fan of warm oil (mineral oil is often used to treat constipation), but watch the seepage. I'm more inclined to use Vitimin E oil, to increase elasticity and promote healing.

I'm leery about using much of anything else more than occasionally, there are lot's of fad formulations popular in the colon cleansing community, coffee, wheatgrass, etc., but I'd thoroughly research anything before you try it, it ain't all healthy.

Alcohol is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the colon and should be avoided in all forms, as little as an ounce can cause alcohol poisoning, and it dries tissues out, so I avoid lotions containing alcohol. Cetyl alcohol is might be OK in small quantities, it's common ingredient in over the counter lotions, but I prefer to avoid it.

I believe one should also avoid organic substances that might promote bacterial growth, although this is an area of ongoing research for me.

There are beneficial types of bacteria living in the colon, and you don't want to kill those, another reason to avoid alcohol and/or other antibacterials. Trace quantities of E. coli shouldn't hurt you if you are otherwise healthy, and the healthy bacteria might be promoted by yogurt or something - it's apparently good for treating yeast infections, although you'd have to make your own, since most off-the-shelf varieties have added sugars that will feed the yeast cultures.

Coffee enemas aren't easy to retain but made me feel better when I was very ill back in 1999.

Any medical people want to evaluate these claims regarding coffee enemas, bile, and detoxification?

Coffee enemas can cause numerous side effects, including infections, severe electrolyte imbalance, colitis, polymicrobial enteric septicemia and heart failure.[4][6][7][8][9][10] If the coffee is inserted too quickly or is too hot, it could cause internal burning[11] or rectal perforation.[12] The use of coffee enemas has led to several deaths as a result of severe electrolyte imbalance.[8]

I have many recipes for enemas but you were asking about retention...I saw a device once that looked similar to a blood pressure cuff only it had 3 bulbs...one for inserting into the colon...one for outside the anus and one for pumping up both...so the victim...aaahhh sub was plugged both inside and out.

Not sure if it can be purchased or if it was something homemade...

The natural salinity of the body is isotonic, which is 0.9% saline. Any solution with less salt is hypotonic and will cause osmotic movement of salt from bodily tissues in a chemical effort to balance water and salt. This can cause hyponatremia as the body loses salt. Any solution with more than 0.9% salt is hypertonic and will cause the movement of water from bodily tissues in a reverse effort to maintain water/salt balance and will cause hypernatremia. An enema solution of 0.9% salinity (normal saline) will cause neither effect and can be used for enema series fairly safely, while any other salinity should be used a maximum of three times within a 24 hour period.

Never use Vaseline as an anal lubricant as it is very difficult for the body to absorb and metabolize and can lead to liver damage if used internally.
Remember that the intestinal wall allows absorption directly into the bloodstream without the defensive mechanism of the stomach and small intestine to slow down chemical overload. Caffeine is a drug. It can cause heart arrhythmias, palpitations, even death if taken in too high of a concentrated dose - which is why these "energy drinks" like Monster and Red Bull carry consumption warnings. Various soaps such as antibacterials can kill the natural flora of the bowel tract, allowing more virulent infections the chance to colonize the bowel, such as Clostridium difficile or methicillin resistant staph aureus (MRSA). Instead use minimal amounts of safe soaps such as castille soap for administration of soapsuds enemas.

When inserting an enema nozzle you should always wash and sterilize the equipment first and wash your hands prior to administration. An enema bag can be sterilized with a vinegar solution placed in the bag, shaken vigorously for three minutes, and allowed to drain out and down through the tubing, followed by sterile water as a rinse. Hang the bag up afterwards to drip dry - never leave a bag moist internally, as this could promote the growth of mold or mildew. The nozzle should be washed inside and out with an antibacterial soap, rinsed and dried well, and set aside in a container to minimize contact with non-sterile surfaces prior to insertion.

Barde*x sells a retention enema balloon nozzle that features two balloons, one which inflates inside the sigmoid colon behind the sphincter, and one which inflates on the outside of the colon in an effort to "seal" the anal opening and prevent leakage or blow-outs. In reality the anal meatus can stretch quite a bit, and unless you are putting an enormous amount of air into the balloon the bowel muscles can almost always forcefully expel such a "plug". If the plug is too large to be forcefully expelled during cramping this can lead to tearing of the internal bowel at the sphincter muscle. A better solution to keeping the plug in is to use a single balloon nozzle and mount it on a PVC harness made for securing butt plugs. That way the plug is being pushed against a unyielding force - the harness, and not against the internal walls of the bowel.

I also suggest the use of a flowmeter bubble, which as it spins shows you the relative speed and force of the water as it flows in - if the ball slows down you'll know the pressure inside the bowel is increasing, and if it stops or tries to reverse direction you'll know your sub or slave is probably full. The ball also denies backflow into the tubing from the bowel, thus aiding in preventing the bag from being contaminated with bowel tract flora.
