GSUSA decides to put asterisk next to "God" and permits atheists/agnostics to use their own words in "The Girl Scout Promise"

Heritage Girls was started as an alternative to Girl Scouts, because the Girl Scouts was involved with Planned Parenthood, and more and more political correctness -- severing an association with God.

Google it.

Yep, a biased site slamming Girl Scouts. What a surprise.

Note that these nuts whine about the fact that the Girl Scouts do not push a pro-Christian viewpoint on the little tykes, and in 1992 changed their oath to allow atheists and agnostics to join and pledge. In other words, GS fails to push the Christian ideology on the kids.

Another horror: in 1967, UNICEF listed Planned parenthood and GS as NGOs. WTF? That's saying they had a similar BUSINESS STRUCTURE, for crying out loud. That's like me claiming that Obama's PAC and Romney's PAC have identical business structures, so they must share the same ideology.

The whole site is a bad hatchet job. This is likely the site that drove Bob Morris to make an idiot of himself.

The Awful Truth About Girl Scout Cookies

Contrary to cleverly concocted conspiracy theories, evidence now suggests that girl scout cookies were not, in fact, used to pacify the Vietcong in Vietnam. Nor are girl scout cookies made of girl scouts, or other contentious nonsense. Sales proceeds were not to be blame for the overthrowing of the Shah in Iran, and girl scouts are almost certainly not reptilians.

Girl Scout cookies plentiful in Indiana House as controversy crumbles

After controversial remarks by one Republican lawmaker attacking Girl Scouts as a radical group that supports abortion, House Speaker Brian Bosma made his feelings clear Tuesday, one Thin Mint cookie at a time.

Bosma, R-Indianapolis, pointedly offered Girl Scout cookies throughout the day and munched them as he presided over the House.

It was a snack prompted by State Rep. Bob Morris, a Fort Wayne Republican who recently sent an email to fellow GOP lawmakers explaining why he had been the lone lawmaker opposing a resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.

In his email, Morris said he'd done "a small amount of web-based research" and had concluded it was linked to Planned Parenthood -- something both the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood deny.

Morris said that liberal Girl Scout leaders "indoctrinate" girls with Planned Parenthood principles and that it touts 50 role models, all but three of whom he said are "feminists, lesbians or Communists."

His letter, first revealed by The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette, prompted a flood of media attention that Morris clearly didn't relish Tuesday. He told waiting reporters he would speak to them "momentarily," then went to the House floor and refused to talk to them. When lawmakers left the House for a behind-closed-doors caucus, Morris pushed aside a TV reporter and ignored questions.

Later, Morris spoke briefly to reporters, defending his comments as something he feels deeply about -- so deeply that he'd pulled his own two daughters from their Girl Scout troop.

Asked why he thinks the Girl Scouts support abortion, Morris said people should "get on the Internet, do some research, contact the Girl Scouts of America on a national level and ask them that question. They're not against it. If you're not against it, you're for it."

Betty Cockrum, president of Planned Parenthood of Indiana, called Morris's comments "inflammatory, misleading, woefully inaccurate and harmful."

He had charged that the group submitted pamphlets to Girl Scouts encouraging sex. Cockrum said it doesn't produce or distribute any such materials.

The website of the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana states that the organization has no affiliation with Planned Parenthood and that "issues related to human sexuality and reproductive health are best left to parents or guardians to discuss with their daughters."

And when a similar controversy broke out in the Washington, D.C., area earlier this year, the president of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital told The Washington Post that "misinformation is passing as fact. The Girl Scout organization does not take a position on abortion or birth control and these topics are not part of the Girl Scout program or our materials."

From his statement about the girl scouts:
"If you're not against it, you're for it."
In other news, the Republican party has not officially stated opposition to Bestiality or Child Rape...

FR

The official stance of Girl Scouts (national level) is that there is no association betwen Planned Parenthood and Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scouts of the USA is careful to make that distinction (emphasis added):

"Girl Scouts does not take a position on abortion or birth control. The national umbrella organization, Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a relationship with Planned Parenthood on a national level and does not plan to have one."

However, invidual councils do have the ability to coordinate with Planned Parenthood, or similar organizations, and some do. Some councils also endorse sex education to Girl Scouts. It is all, of course, up to the individual troop leaders.

ETA - I don't personally feel that Girl Scouts is some underhanded, politically motivated organization pushing pro-abortion agendas on young girls. I do think, though, that they are trying to appeal to the older girls through more...let's say..."mature" topics in order to keep them when they typically drop out.

ETA again - I typed this while eating Girl Scout cookies. Not kidding.

Ya know, State House Reps say a lot of stupid things. It may be the case that in Indiana the Girl Scouts do help fund Planned Parenthood (the largest provider of abortions), and he dislikes that.

This is the clown who took his kids out of girl scouts and made that palsied speech about it? He has produced nothing that I have read and BELIEVE ME, he's been asked, and as far as I know THE ONLY thing he's forwarded the media was spam last time I checked. I'd love to see anything that gets a person even to "may be the case"[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

By the way... I have completed research and find that Rep Morris is NOT in fact tactical arm of the state's American Nazi Party presence. They exhibit superior reasoning capacity and almost, but not really.... NICER.
