The place I live has a private park. I commune with nature and take my herbal remedies there. It is where I go for my down time and as none of the other residents make use of it, it is all mine. I'm still a peace-loving, tree-hugging hippie. When I turned 55 it gave me a jolt. Because it made my "senior citizen" year. Me? Already? Surely you jest. The discounts are nice though, and I adjusted quickly.

My whole home place is my 'porch' as well as my Colorado 'porch' I have been seriously missing lately. I won't be 50 until the end of April and yanno, I haven't decided how I feel about it yet. I've never had a birthday that bothered me but this number just feels so god damned weird. Like I should feel older and be more distinguished or something I don't feel like I am. Meh.....I don't know how to describe it other than it's just weird. I dig not having to shave. I never was hairy but now I am nearly bald from the neck down with no real effort on my part. I've always been bitchy about wearing whatever I wanted and if flip flops, mocs, or bare footed is comfortable then that's what I've done since I was a kid. No big difference there. Skin drying out really isn't a big deal as it was always too oily before. I do slather on the body butter after a shower now and use weird 'products' on my face more than I used to. The masterbating thing.....not so much so. Along with the dryness came a lack of give a damn. I've always got better things to do it seems. Hot flashes minimal. Yay! Black Cohash seems to be the miracle there. I would have to add that the lack of need for feminine hygiene products and the misery the days before the need are my favourite thing. I can wear white whenever I want!

I have half a box of tampons that I can't bear to throw away they're so freakin expensive... I am plenty distinguishded. Yep.

Tomorrow is my 56th birthday, and I am delighted to say it will be the very first birthday I've ever wanted/appreciated/acknowledged, and did not find painful. After nearly 50 years of a dark, stunted, stifling, stultifiled, living hell, I've finally found, and come home to myself. I am now in the most wonderful, open, joyous, playful, humorous, flexible, free state of being, and I am loving nearly every magnificient moment of it. And for those who wish to offer sympathy for what was...DON'T! It exists no more, and matters not. What is here, now, is what counts. Happy Birthday to Me. YIPPIE!!
