I've lived in New Orleans almost all my life. I've been to many parades. Both in stands and on the ground. It gets hectic, it gets mean. It gets fun and loud.
But I have NEVER. EVER. Seen behavior like this. It was disturbing, and rude. Probably some tourist acting like a dick...Because NOBODY who goes to Carnival would ever react that way.

I'm glad she was treated to a special occasion, while the bullies are probably getting blasted all over :D

To be honest, you've got lots of alcohol, lots of nudity and bare breasts, lots of out-of-towners with a "What happens during Mardi Gras, stays in Mardi Gras" attitude - I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

I think we must be attending different Mardi Gras. It's my experience that what happens at Mardi Gras gets posted almost immediately to Youtube! lol

Actually, that is a common misconception. There is alcohol...but there is no nudity. At least, no female topless nudity. Most of the raunchy costumes are worn by males.

NOW BOURBON ST, has nudity and flashing boobs.
Not all of New Orleans. Cops have and will arrest for indecent exposure. Especially since all the parades do have kids attending :P.
Now I'm going to guess the kid with the unruly disposition is probably from out of town. Or a dumbass college kid. Alcohol still doesn't excuse his behavior in humiliating the poor girl.

Been to four Mardi Gras when I lived in Louisiana. Mostly hung out on Bourbon Street. It can get kinda wild, especially after the sun has gone down[;)]

As I said in another thread my uncle was nearly beaten
to death during Mardi Gras in New Orleans about
ten years ago. I've also heard friends from New
Orleans complain about the way tourists behave
during the festivities.
The perception of many outsiders aka tourists is
Mardi Gras is a drunken orgy. What happens
on Bourban Street is not the end all and be all.
Mardi Gras is a holiday in all the Gulf States.
It is something families celebrate as well.
The parades are for everyone. All the festivities
don't center around getting drunk on your ass
and showing your tits or ogling and grabbing
tits.
Friend in NO have said the parades are less family
friendly than they use to be. This is unfortunate
what happens on Bourban Street should stay on
Bourban Street.
What the girls mom said about the guy who was
an asshole to her daughter is true. He won't
remember it probably but the girl will probably
never forget it. Kudos to the folks who tried to
make it up to her.

Never lived in NO...but I can tell you this, as an outsider....not a damn thing to do with Bourbon street (which was a riot and funner than shit)....I do trade shows. 15 - 18 a year.

I have NEVER seen lazier fucks than the union fucks that operated the convention center in NO....and after that one experience.....I avoid that place like the plague. Even if it's an important show....I won't go.

(I won't even send employees).

I was referring to the drunks that actually will flash for beads. They don't do it or not VERY often at least on the St Charles route.
This whole thread wasn't about how lazy people in New Orleans are...it's about how some punk college kids from another town probably treated a girl with such disrespect and how the people of New Orleans treated her in return.

One of the benefits of living in two places is that I get the perspective from multiple areas. I've often commented on how people come to NY to see things, take in sights, go out and all sorts of other rather positive things but that a good many people go to New Orleans with the purpose of behaving as badly as possible.
