http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/euthanasia-in-the-netherlands-rick-santorums-bogus-statistics/2012/02/21/gIQAJaRbSR_blog.html

Santorum claimed that in the Netherlands people wear colored bracelets that say "Do not euthanize me". He also claimed that 10% of all deaths in The Netherlands is caused by euthanize and that half of those are unwanted...

Can any of the Republican candidates tell even one truth for once?

Well, what Santorum says and what the media report him as saying are two different things. They overdub things so that the viewers think he's saying something else. You really have to read his lips.

I thought I already answered this question on the Gingrich thread. Politician, lips moving, therefore lying...
Granted, this ranks right up there with the "If Stephen Hawking had been in the British Health System, he would have been euthanized." Which was rather embarrassing for the right when someone pointed out that Stephen Hawking, being British, got all his care from the British Health System...
I guess republican politicians don't even realize not to make lies that are easy to check?

Santorum, like Ron Paul...is consistent.

Don't make him right....just consistent.

Santorum, like many in the GOP, is simply pandering to the Far Right crowd. Unfortunately, it appears like he really believes the things he says. It's not purely a disregard for the Facts, but more about his obvious disdain for anything and everything that remotely conflicts with his pre-conceived notions about the world. Paul, on the other hand, is consistent, and actually rather refreshing. It's not that I agree with his positions, but that he at least says what he's thinking, even if there's much evidence that his approach would have unintended consequences. For example, he's said he wants to do away with the EPA. Okay, that's fine. Now, exactly how do we deal with all the safety regulations that would no longer exist or be enforced. I'm not buying that any corporate entity wouldn't love that freedom. It would make Chinese milk with melamine look tame. Recently the report on a mine disaster listed countless violations of safety rules, and resulted in many deaths. So...without the regulations (assuming they're being properly enforced) would anyone want to enter a mine? Santorum would put women's rights back...well, somewhere around the book of Numbers...in the Bible. They would again become Property!

This is a pretty reliable source.

Why would you expect them to be any different from the ones on the left?

Boi,I'm sitting here wondering if it is possible that you could, once in a while, just post what you think, rather than the overly repetitive, been there, done that post wherein you take anyone left of center to task for perceived partisan attacks.
For instance, could we have your opinion on Santuroms recent disparaging remarks vis a vis Universities and College educations ?

The left's foreign policy has always been based on lies. For a couple examples see here, here and here.

OMG-a politician lied. What is the world coming too?

Funny thing-it ain't a left thing, it ain't a right thing, it's not a commie thing, it's not a fascist thing, it's not even a totalitarian dictator thing (Who you would figure would be beyond such things cuz why dissemble to a owned populace?), all politicians lie.
Yet despite this, all sides pretend to be shocked and sling mud along party lines. They lied. We don't
So weak.

There's a concept in poly-sci called The Other.
Basically, it is a societal construct used by a people/government to paint a projected, real or created enemy out of another group/people/political party etc...

It involves essentially depicting them in the worst possible light, taking whatever steps required to show them as amoral, "the enemy is seen as less than human. He’s faceless. He’s an animal."
This enables the viewer to claim the high moral ground, dehumanizes the opposition, makes one party "good" and "right" and the Other "evil" and "wrong." Best of all, because the one side is anointed in light and The Other is Satan's favorite minions (Or at least hat's what identity politics claims), the opposition can be treated as horrifically as possible and the "righteous" party need feel no guilt or remorse.
http://johnemackinstitute.org/1988/08/the-enemy-system-short-version/

"In the contemporary, everyday language of scholars, journalists, and politicians
it is conventional to speak of enemy images. The concept comes from psychologi-
cal and social-psychological studies where they are defined, by and large, as the
commonly held, stereotyped, dehumanized images of the out-group ( Zur 1991:
350).
As to the Other, the easiest way to define it is to say that the Other is fundamen-
tally different from "us." For Aristotle the excluded Other is an alien who was
unable to use and understand the common (Greek) language; consequently, the
"Barbarian" became an object of hunting, that is, the slave. Modern scholars like
Michel Foucault ( 1972, 1980; cf. Dalby 1988: 416-17) show that the Other is
perceived as an abnormal, mad, and delinquent person."

Now look at how the parties talk about each other...and more importantly, how the party adherents perceive their opposites

Wanna know more-look at a great starter book called The Enemy with a 1000 Faces. Then look into identity politics constructs, especially the creation of The Other

Can any of the Republican candidates tell even one truth for once?

I'm more concerned about what they say when they tell the truth:

Former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) on Sunday defended a statement he made last October in which he said that he “almost threw up” when he read John F. Kennedy’s 1960 Houston address on the role of religion in public life.

On Sunday, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked Santorum whether he stood by his statement... Santorum defended his remarks, telling Stephanopoulos that “the first line, first substantive line in the speech, says, ‘I believe in [an] America where the separation of church and state is absolute.’”

“I don’t believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute,” Santorum said.

John Hays, Lincolns press secretary and a lifetime DC insider, once said that "Politics is the art of talking while saying nothing."

Wise man. If ya never express an opinion, never take a side, flank any direct questions, nothing can be used against you at a later date.
