blacksword404 -> Time for a TSA overhaul (2/29/2012 9:52:57 PM)

My guess is most people have an opinion on the tsa. One way or the other. It's surprising to me that they are supposed to be patrolling so much with so little actual law enforcement training. Maybe it's time they were required to have some.

I hate to see what kind of people they hire by advertising on pizza boxes.

By Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)

One of the great honors of my service to Tennessee is having the opportunity to represent Ft. Campbell which is home to the storied 101st Airborne, the 5th Special Forces Group and the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment which piloted Navy SEAL Team Six during the raid on Osama Bin Laden.

Each soldier who calls Ft. Campbell home has gone through some of the most intensive training on the planet which pushed their minds and bodies to their physical limits. In the end, those who make the cut have earned the right to be part of our United States military, are honored to wear its uniform, and are serving on the frontlines in the fight against global terrorism.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for our nation’s Transportation Security Officers (TSO’s) who Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano contends are our nation’s last line of defense in fighting domestic terrorism. Unlike “hell week” which faces potential Navy SEALs, becoming a TSO requires a basic level of classroom and on the job training. In many cases this rigorous training is less severe than the requirements of becoming a security guard in most states.

Do not get me started on the festival of inconsistency that is the tsa. I would feel better if all aircraft passengers were issued boxcutters with their boarding passes.

Considering high unemployment the choice of employees is good. They should select suitable people. How Hooters can do it? Learn from them. Also, radiating people with X-rays should stop.

Cudgels would be better. Ease of use. The gate person can hand them out as you are boarding and the flight attendant can collect them as passengers deplane.

Kinda like the 3-D glasses after a Disney attraction.[8D]

Not to mention the thefts.

Clients have reported stolen from their luggage:

One client had all of her pants stolen.
One client had a pair of boots stolen.
One client had their syringes and insulin stolen . (Luckily he was carrying some with him on the flight)
One client had her cosmetics stolen.
One client had the software he was going to install for client stolen. (For machines that do CNC)
And one high school surf team had all of their video equipment stolen.

TSA needs a complete overhaul.
