Hi all... I am not sure this is the right place for this, if not, someone please let me know... Anyhow, I have been curious about BDSM for quite a long time (over a decade) and recently decided to explore in earnest. The problem I am having is that I want to have an open dialogue about the real life practicalities (or lack there-of lol) of BDSM ~ everything from how to figure out if I actually am a submissive, or if I just like being on the receiving end of rough, kinky sex, to finding out about the local bdsm community here in town before I actually try attending a munch (or maybe even how to get SASM to add me to the Yahoo group so I can find out where the damn things are!) and I am not getting what I want from the Domy-types I have had contact with so far. I was wondering if there are any submissives/slaves in the San Antonio area that would be willing to talk to me via email or IM, or whatever, and maybe share some of their insights. Sorry it was such a long, rambly type post - thanks to those of you who make it through to the end!

Munches are just a meal in a vanilla restaurant. Kink can be discussed (in an undertone, if you are not in a private room) or you may exchange recipes.

Niteshade9, you're overthinking. If you go to a munch, nothing amazing will happen. You'll go there expecting to meet real life kinksters, and you'll see a bunch of people that look just like everyone else. Some of the talk will be kink related but most will be vanilla stuff like their jobs and how their lawnmower needs to be fixed.

The long and short of it frankly is that I would be FAR more comfortable attending a social event where I have had at least a smidge of contact with someone else there than walking in blind.

If you are finding the munch via fetlife you can see who is going and initiate a convo with someone. Minimally, the event organizer will be happy to talk to you. Here in Mass, there are often threads before events; join in those convos.
