I thought this might be an interesting place to pose this question. Sense one of the main things for a lot of BDSMer is consentiual, how do people feel about having a childs ears pierced? An infant certainly can't give her permition.
So you know I'm against it. (I didn't want anyone feeling wierd posting and not knowing how I feel) I think it's wrong. Oddly my view is very unfasionable. I accually have a friend who people have given a hard time to because she would not get her daughter ears pierced. A friend of her's accually threatened to kidnap her daughter and get it done. That person had a young girl of her own and had told me she planned to get her ears done. The when I said I could never do it because I've watched it and they scream bloody murder, She told me it wasn't that it hurt them, it was the sound that scared them. Um, every piercing I've had as an adult has hurt. Oddly enough when she did get them done she was unhappy with the job done.
The other reason I don't care for it is purely a visual thing. Once the child grows up the hole is often not were you would want it to be.
I just thought it would be an interesting question to ask here.

Increasing the chances of infection in an infant is never a smart thing to do. Parents who think it's a good idea need to be beaten with a clue-by-four.

My daughter asked to have it done at 9 years old. She didn't cry or anything. She no longer wears earrings because somehow the backs of both earrings got lodged in the holes and had to be extracted, ouch. She said she doesn't want them done again, I don't blame her.

I had mine done at about six. I hated it. Everyone was telling me to be strong because they wanted to pierce my little sisters ears to. She was about 3. Aparently she wasn't buying it because they didn't do hers. May explain some of why I think it's such a bad idea. They got infected and they had to take them out. I got them done again at 16.

My daughters were pierced when she was 8 or 9, and she's not had problems. I myself had them done at a younger age and not had problems so i guess, to do or not to do, is up to the parent.
