Democrats are largely to blame for the name-calling and personal insults of the contraception debate, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) charged Friday.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has spent part of his last three shows referring to a Georgetown University law student as a “slut” with “boyfriends ... lined up around the block.” But Issa said Democrats are also complicit in the deteriorating rhetoric, accusing them of insulting people of faith.

Issa shot back Friday against Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), who had asked the Oversight Committee chairman to disavow Limbaugh’s comments.

“While your letter raises important concerns about these inappropriate comments and the tone of the current debate over religious freedom and Obamacare, I am struck by your clear failure to recognize your own contributions to the denigration of this discussion and attacks on people of religious faith,” Issa said in response to Cummings.

In order to win the Presidency, the GOP candidate must:
1. Be enough of a social conservative to win the GOP nomination.
2. After getting the nomination, do a hard right turn on social issues, but deemphasize them while
3. Changing the topic to the economy and issues that the Independents will care about.

The GOP has a problem in that its stance on the social issues does not reflect that of the population at large. The eventual nominee is hurt by the length of the primary, during which he is forced to spend more time on the losing social issues and less time on the bread and butter issues.

So:
1. Limbaugh manages to piss off women across the country.
2. Wimpy candidates cower before Limbaugh and risk losing women.
3. The whole time this is going on, they're losing precious time to address the real issues.
4. The idiots PROLONG THE ISSUE.

What are they thinking?

With regard to the population at large, perhaps so. But with regard to the distribution and fractions of citizens of who consistently vote in elections, the GOPNRC conspirators managed to twigg enough social issues and launder enough slush money that they gained enough control of the US gov't to stack the SCotUS in their favor for another decade or two.

What did Romney say recently: They won by enough, and that's all that matters?

Status: offline 		Issa fully recognizes, finally, that he and his party and Limbaugh really screwed their own pooch on live video feeds, several times, and he's grasping desperately for ways to attack his way out of the mess they made of what was a 50-50 or maybe better issue for them.

I'd bet a steak dinner that within a decade reputable historians rank those events among pivotal shifts in political issues and party alignments for this election and maybe following elections. A congressional hearing about women's contraceptive issues, with nothing but rabid rightwing blowhards asking and answering questions? A rightwing radio less-laws more-order blowhard with a history of drug abuse, offshore fornication, and grotesque misogyny repeatedly calls a young female law student a slut, prostitute, etc?

Yeah, that's really going to go over well with 50+% of the US voting population ... Not! ...

Don`t get me wrong......I love these gifts from god but this is mind boggling.
