GrandPoobah -> RE: Rush.. his latest victim (3/7/2012 9:19:19 AM)

Rush simply doesn't see it. There is probably nothing that will "make him" see it. He lives in his own world, believes his own thoughts, and owns the rights to his fantasy theme park. He spews hatred, but claims status as "an entertainer" thus allowing himself a free ride. "Oh, I was just being funny" is his only, and ultimate, excuse. He's sorta like George Carlin or maybe Lenny Bruce, except not many people think he's that funny. For those of you who might not know these two names, here's a short clip from Carlin, defining today's problem...years ago. http://youtu.be/vZijLQGH1v0 The truly unfortunate part of all of this is that he's taking down the whole GOP with him. He claims to be the leader, speaking for the party. Since no one actually in the party leadership challenges that, it stands as true. The man with the most to lose, namely Mitt Romney, simply said "those weren't the words I would have used" in the latest explosion. That, in simple terms, was what Ben Bradley (of Watergate fame) called a "non-denial denial." If you stand up and claim to speak for a group, and no one in the group says otherwise, you get to do it. In some ways it's similar to the last dozen years with Islam. Bin Laden claimed to speak for the whole religion, and not very many Islamic leaders disagreed publicly. De facto, Islam became the religion of terrorists, even though most of us know that's probably not a fair generalization. If a bunch of leaders had decried the actions of 9-11, things might be much different. It's impossible to know, but that seems quite likely. Possibly they didn't speak up because they feared being the next target. I don't know, but that's also possible. In any case, until somebody hits Rush with something big enough and hard enough, he's going to continue his private war against women and anyone else who challenges his point of view. He's making too much money to quit...and he's a firm believer in the hog-farm principle. It's the very reason he still has listeners. Never wrestle with a pig in the mud. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
