Actually it was the Russians that overran Germany ... but just to carry forward here, the unwashed might still like to have benefit of explanation regarding the details of how France, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Austria, Italy, Greece, Japan, and Singapore all became annexed by the UK, and how they became OWNER of superior right in these countries.
Oh that's right you told us; public disclosure of interest (which apparently is de facto annexation) in another territory is not required, which is as rock solid evidence of annexation as one could hope for.
