Day One

Day 2

Day 3

Doonesberry catching flack about his own freedom of speech.... I dont have any other link right this sec about the actual controversy from "republicans"
Apparently Doonesbury has decided to do a week long strip dedicated to the texas law being enacted soon.I thought I would sharre his view

Link to the story is

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/03/14/the-doonesbury-comic-strip-republicans-dont-want-you-to-see-the-wednesday-edition/

Link to the "republican" responses ( I only use republican as the terminology given, not that I think it is caused by the politics as much as the sensitivity of it, given that its in the funnies, but I like his strip pointing out the mindset))
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/some-newspapers-consider-pulling-doonesbury-comic-strips-satirizing-texas-abortion-law/

I get the free market, I get , buyers choice, and all the stuff people said about free speech, etc, but it seems to be business as usual all around

Great strip...too bad they could not put it in the editorial section rather then the funny section. But... it is not the only politically motivated strip in the funnies. If they remove his they should remove all.

LOL!

(I do not even know who Rick Perry is, but I can infer from context that he must have been instrumental in passing the law.)

The Governor of the state of Texas and one of the failed candidates for the Republican Presidential nomination.

You know, I feel like I should feel some sympathy for Texans but, then again, I've met too many Texans...

Isn't being involuntarily penetrated by an object considered rape in Texas? How can the state legally order such a violation?

IOW why hasn't some judge enjoined Texas from enforcing this dumb ass law?

Thats why they changed the transvaginal law in VIrginia Ken, its unconstitutional so they now are going with a basic abdominal US.
Texas doesnt seem to be taking much notice of what happened in VA
YET
State mandated "rape" Is gonna be their issue, amongst other things

I am not saying I agree with the law but, I can answer that for you.

It's not compulsory (in their view) it's an "if"

IF you want to have an abortion you must ...

The specious argument is: no one is forcing them to have an abortion.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Actually here in my little corner of the world(Clayton,North Carolina) The News and Observer does just that.
And was doing so long before this current story line, which I find highly amusing while being so very sad.

Not all of us are bad and not all of us agree with all the other Texans. Although, I may not choose abortion for myself, at least I have the right to choose and I think that's what should be important. They should allow a woman to choose what is right for herself not for everyone else who wants to put their two cents in.

And it's alright that you don't feel sympathy for me, I still value you as a person and hope that you are well and happy. Thank you for posting your opinions.

There was a funny thing in the local paper yesterday, Lucy (not available as a link). A letter to the editor was ripping the paper for not running the storyline, followed by an editor's note that they'd had a few comments on this recently, and it was the first feedback on Doonesbury they'd had, since dropping the strip entirely, six weeks ago, due to a lack of interest.

Trudeau's pen is still sharp, when he's got something to run with, but his filler crap in between has gotten pathetic and sad. He's in fine form here. Thanks for sharing.

Except an abortion is not illegal by a federal ruling..

Rape is illegal...

See How that works

Requiring rape to get a legal procedure is beyond stupidity.

I thank the GODS most of the men who are trying to pass this shit or agree with this stupidity, are beyond breeding age, and I PRAY to everything they havent polluted the gene pool...
