I often tell my kittehs that they need to get off their butts and get a job....at which point, they usually crack open one eye and give me the "yeaaaaah, riiiiiight!" look.

Two of my 5 know that that will NEVER catch that damn little red dot that occasionally runs across the floor. They sit and watch the others try and I swear, they roll their eyes at them.

KB and Shiloh, my dog I had, used to get their own treats....KB would knock them down from whatever high place I'd (HA!) hidden them, and Shiloh would rip the bag open. Then act like they had no clue as to how the bag "fell out" of the cupboard.

Master tells the cats almost every night that he's going to throw them across the bedroom. *giggles* In true typical cat fashion they have both decided that Master is infinitely snugglable. Can't really blame them much, I tend to agree. But Master is NOT a cat person, so it's very highly amusing when one of the cats hops up onto him and just *flops* down like cats do, then looks at him like "Yea, you and what army?" when he starts talking about flying cats.

One of the cats I had a long time ago used to play too hard sometimes and I would tell her that I was going to call Animal Control and report the "vicious miniature cougar" in my house that kept attacking me. My ex would get a laugh out of that. The two I have now are much gentler cats, so I don't tell them that.

Sometimes when I'm being silly I'll ask Angel if she's my "little snow lion" and Misty if she's my "little black panther."

Angel is twice as big as Misty and is always trying to intimidate her. When she's being obnoxious to Misty, I'll tell her I'm going down to the pound to adopt a 20 lb. street cat, much bigger and meaner than she is, to give her a taste of her own medicine. Not that I'm really planning to do this. I don't even want to think about the chaos that would ensue in this household if I did that.

*chuckle* You might be surprised if you did that. One cat I had (and I miss her dearly) never weighed more than four pounds her entire life. Tiny little thing. But she was the BOSS, and had no trouble at all intimidating cats 4 and 5 times her size.

No I don't ever< I have 9 house bunnies and they are so timid and so amazingly gentle that I tell then 10000 times a day that I love them and to stay with me forever....I know. I'm a big sensitive wuss. If anything I spend hours trying to make them happy and to keep them feeling safe and loved. Can't even explain how much I love those bunnehs <3

SoulAlloy -> RE: So who lies to/teases their pets? (3/18/2012 2:36:45 AM)

I only ever did the classic "pretend to throw the ball" for my dad's dogs, then they look at you in confusion as you throw it behind you...

When my cats slept I used to like pretending a fly landed their ears by touching them gently and buzzing, watching them flick them in response.

Phoenixpower -> RE: So who lies to/teases their pets? (3/18/2012 3:30:16 AM)

yep, I tell them "if you don't stop that shit I swear I put you in a parcel and ship you over to live with big bad Dark Stevie"....and I can tell you, they do believe me.....now....lemme see...where did I place your address[:o]

I say "I'll be back in 2 doggie minutes".

Whether I am coming back in 2 minutes or a week.

Years and years ago, I came to the conclusion that if there was a room with 1000 people in it, and one "non-cat" person, the cat in the room will immediately find them like they are dipped in 'nip, and proceed to climb into their lap and make themselves at home. My ex's one gma did not like cats at all, yet every time she'd come to the house, Alex would sit thisclose to her on the couch and quietly wait. It took about 4 visits, but one day, Gma came over, sat down and Alex crawled into her lap and Gma, without thinking, started petting her. Another person succumbed to the power of the kitteh!

He doesn't stand a chance...kittehs are for more patient than hoomans are.....mark my words!

i gave up teasing my cats. They never listen to me because, quite frankly, they are cats and make it their mission to ignore me.

Mystic, my Bit is the smallest dude in the house, about 5 lbs tops, and he's the biggest lion on the Serengeti as far as he's concerned! He is constantly jumping on the bigger guys, and when they turn and hiss at him, he plops down in a submissive pose, but you can see it in his face that he ain't skeered at all! When they turn their back to go about their bizness, he's eight back on top of them! Little Terror is what he is....but he just looks so cyooooooot when he's up to no good!

I forgot about the silly horse. I called him DumberNBait. My main goal in life was to get his silly ass to trot without unseating me.

His main goal was to play TossTheTush.

If i stayed seated he would get a carrot after our ride. One day i didn't have any carrots and offered him a turnip. He chomped onto my ponytail and tried to pull me over the barb-wire fence.

tj444 -> RE: So who lies to/teases their pets? (3/18/2012 11:16:12 AM)

hahaha silly horses..

I had a horse when i was a kid.. until we got a saddle i rode her bareback.. i would ride her out and then all of a sudden she would lay down and roll over, forcing me to jump off.. I was too shrimpy and not strong enough to jump back on her again so i had to walk her back home! argghhh

One time she bit me so I immediately bit her back on her soft nosey.. we both cried but she never bit me again..

Phoenixpower -> RE: So who lies to/teases their pets? (3/18/2012 12:48:44 PM)

I dont do horses....learned that lesson as a kid (about 10 years old) when one pony bit me in my back and another stood on my foot...
from then onwards the horse riding fun was all the fun of my friend and I happily stayed out of it[>:]

I had a roommate once, with a dog who, for some weird reason, loved the word Cincinnati. So periodically I'd say "Cincinnati?" in the form of a question, and her ears would perk right up and she'd shake her tail and get all excited. It was hilarious.

mynxkat -> RE: So who lies to/teases their pets? (3/20/2012 9:19:41 AM)

I've decided that the cats banded together to tease the dogs. I swear they used to play 'good cat, bad cat' with our three dogs til I put a stop to it. One cat, Ginger, would walk up to the dogs and be all lovey and friendly, rubbing on them and all. Then a little while later, the other cat, Amber, would come up, maybe sniff a bit, then whack the dog on the nose or on its side with a paw. Thankfully she's worked out that using claws for whacking the dogs would probably be a bad idea. The dogs all react to being whacked identically, they flinch back and go slinking off like 'what'd I do to youuuuuuu???'

The overall effect of this game was that the dogs (poor Monsters), got all twitchy around either cat, because they weren't sure what the cat was going to do. Bear (lab mix mongrel, biggest dog in the house) got to where he'd stand outside the back door and bark til we told him it was ok to come thru the dog door. He was afraid there might be a cat sitting just inside waiting to ambush him.

They've all settled down now, Ginger is still all lovey and snuggly with the dogs, often to their nervous consternation (hey, this weird puppy is layin' on me, what'll I doooo?) and Amber has settled down and even touches noses with them without anyone getting whacked.

Guilty. Something about how, "You would make a good pair of mittens!"

Tone of voice is important, and I try be good about that, so I'm not totally evil. But I'm guilty.

ShibsStories -> RE: So who lies to/teases their pets? (3/21/2012 4:18:52 PM)

Me and my father used to insult each other through my cat Tory.
I would come home after being gone for a few days for various reasons, and my father would be sitting on his lazyboy watching TV, and comment:
"Well Vikki(he renamed her ><), looks like shes been catting around again- that why you been sniffing around all those boycats, trying to be like your owner?"
Me:
"Well why not, look at all that weight she's put on since she started hanging around with you."
