TheHeretic -> Speaking of pushing seniors off a cliff... (3/15/2012 7:42:04 PM)

I realize that the great 2012 fear and loathing machine of the Obama campaign is all about the "war on women," theme this week, but elsewhere in the world, a woman not sucked into that fools drama has been writing about a subject that same fear and loathing machine doesn't want to get anywhere near.

Watch Bernankes Little Inflation Capsize U.S.: Shlaes

quote:

A little is all right. That’s the message Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke has been giving out recently when asked about the evidence of inflation in the U.S. recovery.

Sometimes Bernanke doesn’t even go that far. He simply says he doesn’t see inflation. The Fed chairman recently described the prospects for price increases across the board as “subdued.”

“Sudden” is more like it. The thing about inflation is that it comes out of nowhere and hits you.

Print money out of thin air, get inflation.

It will be the seniors who take the very worst of it. Then the poorest, and the poor. To make matters worse, the social security adjustments will be calculated according to the new rules for determining the "official" number, and they assume in that since people will switch to cheaper substitutes, why prices haven't gone up at all. If people are spending on london broil, what they used to spend on tri-tip, there is no inflation. Maybe they'll monitor the prices of cat food, after granny switches to non-human food, to set the increases?

Oh, Gawd! Why don't you just come right out and say that Obama plans to crash a giant asteroid into the earth and exterminate the human race?

Fluke was not a White House plant and the general public reaction was sincere and NOT drama.Neither is the seemingly endless attacks on woman`s rights and healthcare.

And the state of shock and denial of the right still hasen`t let you all know that you cons lost that one..........big time.

The back-bending moral relativism and excuse making, added to the whiny-cry-baby put upon act is quite entertaining if not prolonging of your embarrassments.

So you equate forcasting predictable consequences with magic and science fiction then, DNAV?

Besides, I think the Obama campaign already has that scheduled for the mid-June theme, against the Republicans.

Owner59 -> RE: Speaking of pushing seniors off a cliff... (3/15/2012 9:45:55 PM)

Not very swift equating the GOPeople`s major epic fail with super skills possessed by the president......

I mean I could understand that he`s so awesome and smart enough that he could make the GOP walk......sorry run...off a cliff but do you guys really have to be so cooperative and obliging?

Oh.......great way to divert attention from the GOP`s women troubles ,btw,.....boring math...........yawn.....lol

Well, no, actually. I just get so sick of the subliminal brain waves from Cloud-cuckcoo-land.

BTW, I write science fiction, and I can tell you we in the 'trade' do a far better job of predicting the future and examining the consequences of social policy than some people I could name.

And yet you wish describe the idea that, when you print shitloads of money, the money loses value, as coming from "cloud-cuckoo-land?"

Is it that "chicks with three tits" variety of sci-fi you do then?

I rest my case.

Oh, and Heretic, most speculative fiction is far more adult and intelligent than the sample you offer. You need to get your mind out of the...comic books.

Seniors certainly get punished, savers in general, as the speculators flourish. In addition, young adults are needing support from parents [ http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2012/03/15/the-boomerang-generation/2/#who-are-the-boomerang-kids ]. Trend researches perhaps would say: you have not seen anything yet.
Obama is a propaganda president. This is what he does best. The current pure crony capitalism  is not well exposed or, in majority opinion (just my observation, not anything proven), not tied to Obama administration. The last is viewed as mostly irrelevant and being restrained to a necessity to stimulate the economy ( "Bush recession" in Democrats mind) with borrowed cash (Keynesianism). The fact that it is not working circles mostly in blogosphere. Still, most people are not very comfortable with Obama. It is not quite clear what he actually has accomplished during his stay in the White House. An interesting headline I saw: "The true presidential race: Candidate Obama against President Obama".

dcnovice -> RE: Speaking of pushing seniors off a cliff... (3/16/2012 6:05:02 AM)

<fr from someone who should be headed to work and admittedly just skiimed>

Are we equating Bernanke with the Obama Administration? If I recall correctly, wasn't Bernanke appointed before 1.20.09? And doesn't the Fed act (at least somewhat) independently?

The willows? The tea is a bit hard on the tummy. Fortunately, we figured out how it works, and just synthesize the stuff.

How's the power of bitterness, and an angry outlook on the world, doing for the healing process?

I had to smile a bit as I read this, because I immediately thought of Dick Cheney's comments early in the Obama Administration: Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a "high probability" that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration's policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed. (Source: Politico)

I really don't think either party has a monopoly on fear-mongering.

Again, DNAV, what planet of multi-breasted women is it, where printing money like crazy doesn't inevitiably lead to the money losing value?

Certainly not, DC, but this campaign went from hope and change to fearmongering pretty easily.

Now get to work. [:D]
