The N word for one.

But not "cracker," "white trash" or any of those filthy words. They are used quite regularly to much tee-heeing. Pretty disgusting.......luci

Crackers is what I eat Raw Oysters on and White Trash is computer paper after I've printed on both sides of it.

Yeah, clever. But it's ridiculous that one hateful, bigoted, racist term is banned and those and others like them are not. And what's worse, people who would rather die than use the "n" word toss the others around like they're acceptable and funny. I think if one is bad, they all are but that's just me. I think bigotry is ugly no matter who is directed at even if they're po white folkses.........luci

Sadly people could buy this sticker from both zazzle and cafepress. I have actually seen one and the person with it said he got it off cafepress. He is very much a white power sort of person and says the word means exactly what most assume it is short for. I am happy to note that the person in question, when I had the conversation with him about the sticker, was making an appointment to have his back windshield replaced. It had a very large crack that he said was made by someone throwing a brick at his car.

Actually cracker is a long time non pejorative term for Georgians. Before the Braves moved to Atlanta the local minor league team was the Atlanta Crackers. Atlanta's Negro League team was known as the Atlanta Black Crackers.

Yeppers. You've summed it up sweetly and succinctly. End of this particular sad and sorry tale.

Except to note how nice it is to see virtually all posters and all shades of opinion united in distaste for this type of ugly sewer dwelling sleaze. Take a bow CM posters!

That may be, but cracker is also a racist term alluding to slave overseers cracking the whip.
Can be just as offensive as the N-word, depending on how someone is using it. Than again, racism is often treated as a double standard.

Sorry to disavow you on that shib but Cracker is from the cattle herders in the FL territory. The bullwhips they used to herd cattle made the sound. I know it's on wiki as you have it but the FL term predates it and FL was a Spanish territory and therefore slave free when it originated there.

Yes, it is renege.  I think the intent of the bumper sticker is pretty clear, and it didn't happen because the makers couldn't spell.  Racist assholes.

Yes they are. Now normally I would say there is no justification in destroying someone elses property, but I would have a hard time walking by the car without pulling out my keys.

I see. So when I heard a girl say "Lord Jesus, save us from these ignorant crackers" she was really talking about cattle herders? And when my friend and I walked into a store last month and heard someone say "who let those crackers in here" we should have looked around for cowboys?

That's where the term originated.
Redneck has a similar origin. There are 2 theories. One is that poor, white rural field workers/sharecroppers wore shirts but had no protection for their arms/necks. This led to "Farmer's tan" and sunburn on the back of the neck, thus "Redneck"
the other theory goes to the coal miners of KY when they were unionizing. Union men who were striking wore red bandanas around their neck (the first gang colors?) and were known as "Rednecks".
Cracker and redneck both started out as poor, frequently illiterate white southerners who worked hard to support a family.

Unfortunately, both terms got perverted into a racist/classist definition.

I'm not as poised in historical discourse as Hillwilliam is, but I am quite adept in the area of racism. There is absolutely no aspect of racism that is ok. I don't care which side it comes from or who it is towards.

People should pay attention to the astonishing volume of hatred that spews in abundance around the world. People are so naturally drawn to hatred and vile acts that they can't or refuse to see it. Rather, people want to argue about who is right in their ideals and behavior and thus justifying why the hatred is relevant.

I applaud the OP for this post and the posters that are commenting here. These are the type of discussions that I enjoy reading and taking part in. I wish the world could see how us "Freaks" actually admonish the normal practices of hatred. Well, at least in this thread.

Thank You. I was just pointing out the ugliness.
