it is best to actualy feel the item in your (the one that will use it) hand as difrent hand sizes matter. if the handle is large then it will be uncofortable to use properly or for very long another is the weight some are hollow and others are solid the shape of it as some are made with furniture legs and then there is attachment to the working end some use a swivel like in numchucks some are held by a loop between the fingers some are just a ball end and still others have a insertable end. there are vegan kinds made with all man made materials. i was fortunate to be used as a practice target at several big events with clothes on so as not to contaminate the material. if there are any near you to try it would be best as some of them can be pricy
enjoy the journey

My favorite cat makers are:

Snake Pit Leather Works
These guys are the ultimate cutting edge from flogger and cat design! From wicked shot loaded, flexible cats that handle like a single tail to the exotic hides and feelings from of bear, elephant, Russian boar, bison, caribou and shark skin, you will be amazed. Oh yeah, and just a warning, when they say something they craft will bite or hurt, it does. Some of the most wickedly painful and beautiful floggers and cats I have ever seen.

Heartwood Whips
Internationally renown for their world-class line of classic leather floggers, cats, flat braids and scourges (many of which appeared in in the movie Exit To Eden). Tails range from soft sensuous deerskin, elk or suede through higher intensity bull, cow and bison. They are more "whips of passion" than corporal punishment tools.

Rubber cloggers are very stingy though. You most likely want a thuddy one and I don't know if a non animal thuddy flogger is available. I have a pair of elk cloggers and everybody loves those :). ( iPhone auto correct doesn't know what a f l o g g e r is !!!!)
