Okay, so the info from the Japnese series "Pokemon Smash", and Junichi Masuda's confirmed word about the soon-to-be newest main series releases for Pokemon will be Pokemon Black v. 2, and Pokemon White, v. 2. New Pokemon games do excite me, despite my being a non-closeted adult Pokemon player. But really... B/W version 2???
In the former main series releases, ther was ONE expansion to each story....Red/Blue (Japan only)/Green had Yellow. Gold/Silver had Crystal, Ruby/Sapphire had Emerald, and Diamond/Pearl had Platinum... But this time, with Black and White, everyone was expecting "Grey". what the fuck is GameFreak, Nintendo, and Monsters Inc. thinking when they decided to introduce TWO expansions to a main series game?
I remember when I first started playing the Pokemon series games when I was 16, and into adulthood, they are the only video games that have actually stuck with me consistantly, and still give me any desire to still play. I, as a long time fan, have come to expect things from this long-running video game series with an over fifteen year video game history.
When did GameFreak become some consumerist empire, that wants to just make money, and not give their fans what they have come to rely on? This still leaves things open to a tentative "Grey" version, despite Junichi Masuda's claim that B/W v. 2 will wrap up this series. And I'm guessing they will leave us in the dark about that tentative "Grey" version until AFTER the still expected "Hoenn/Advanced remakes" of Ruby in Sapphire versions on the newer Nintendo handheld consoles, unless GameFreak again goes against what their PokeFans have come to expect, and they don't release those either. (The third expansions to the new main series classically are released after the "remakes")
With two rerleases for the expansions of Black and White, I feel as if my (very sad) 900+ (seriously) hours of gameplay time on Pokemon Black and White were near meaningless. I mean really, there won't be any new Pokemon in v. 2. Even if you bust into the games coding, the "new" forms of Kyurem are in the original Black/White, which means unless there is new coding in v. 2 to prevent it from happening, the new forms will be tradable to v. 1, so still, technically nothing new.
Will I purchace B/W v. 2, probably, but I'm going to be VERY annoyed as I'm going through my local WalMart's checkout line.
For the CM PokeFans, what are your thoughts on having two releases in the new main series games, and having GameFreak switch things up on what their long time fans have come to expect?
