George W. Bush's former Surgeon General believes the Republicans are on the wrong side of history as they pass measures that will restrict women's access to reproductive care.

http://www.blogforarizona.com/blog/2012/03/dr-richard-carmona-statement-on-legislatures-attempt-to-block-access-to-contraception.html

"As Surgeon General, I focused on what was good for the health of the country, not what was good for partisan politics. And as a longtime health care professional, I can say without hesitation that restricting access to reproductive health care is detrimental to the health and safety of women. Period."

Carmona has switched parties because he believes that access to all health care should be increased for everybody. He also believes that increasing access to reproductive health will ultimately cut down on unwanted pregnancy and abortion. The Republicans are doing just the opposite.

Yes. He's running for the Senate, btw. Hopes to take Jon Kyle's seat. Which is why he is now a registered Dem. He just can't on board with all the craziness of his former party.
