cherrykeyboards -> [Suggestion] Search option for financial / tribute dom (3/23/2012 2:38:47 PM)

Hi Collarme and friends,

Can we please get an option in the search criteria for filtering Financial / Tribute only doms?

Similarly this should allow these type of doms to label themselves as such.

Great idea, now how do you think that would work? Would the fin and tribute Doms label themselves for handy categorization? Or would they still try to slide on it with the rest of the crowd thinking it might be better for business? Do you see the problem? Even if there were a category who says anyone would use it?

Another point...would it lower someone's defenses if they thought "Oh wow, Miss Princessofyourwallet isn't actually categorized as a fin Dom therefore she must be ok! I'll send her the tribute money she asked for immediately because it must be true that she needs it as an expression of my goodwill and non-timewasting efforts!"

Or how about since this is a PERSONALS site we work to get rid of the pro-only element?

risktaker9 -> RE: [Suggestion] Search option for financial / tribute dom (3/23/2012 3:19:36 PM)

Well, this is a site where we self-select where we put ourselves. I don't think it's a bad idea to have more selections for that, but there are always going to be others who disagree with the self-appointed designations. I can't really see it as a solution to anything like wasted time, although it would be nice for the people themselves if they wanted to present themselves that way.

No one could force anyone to use certain categories, and who says everyone's interpretation is the same? So maybe the woman who wants money for moving costs isn't going to designate herself as a fin Dom, but she's not asking for any tribute money. Someone else is going to consider the moving costs tribute because it's money being exchanged. The extra categories might be nice but would they actually do anything in the end?

Actually, CM's banner says that the site is a BDSM community....not a personals site. Many of us here aren't looking, we're here solely for the conversations.

Why? Some people want pros. For some exchanging money is what they want hands down, why say what they want isn't worthy but smearing feces on another is? No offense to those who love toilet play.

Perhaps they could add "Gold-digger" to the drop down list......

I'm just going to make this easier on Myself.

A) What makes you call it a "personals site"? When I read the tagline on my computer it says, The Largest BDSM Community on the Planet. That leads me to think the site owners see it more as a community than simply a dating site. Sure, sure... dating is a thing which happens in communities, but it's not the only thing.
B) In what way would you benefit if we did "get rid of the pro-only element"? How would that improve your experience of the site?

Some will label themselves as it, most won't. When searching I can at least filter out -some- of the results I don't want to see.

Those that make a habit of being explicitly here for professional services will definitely use it.

It's all about use cases, there is no real disadvantage not to doing it and would lead to a more moderated site. Do you think that's a bad thing?

As always I like to be apart of the solution and for the good change, not the problem.

Edit: some of this sounded rather attackish, not my intent. :)

OP, you say these types of Doms will label themselves as fin/tribute Doms...says who? Who says they will label themselves as anything but what they already do?

When these threads come up, the OP's usually blast the naysayers by claiming that no one wants to do anything to make the site better. I'd love to see a better site, show me something that would actually work to better people's experiences here and I'd be the first to get on the bandwagon to see it happen. Something that would work, something that would keep the site free, something that wouldn't' discriminate against others, and something that is fair. In all the frustration and complaining that comes up about this subject, I've never seen anyone actually offer a suggestion that meets the criteria I just listed.

So here's my proposal to you...figure out how to solve the problem effectively, and by filling the rest of the objectives I mentioned, and that would be a start in the right direction.

Sure.

Passive: allow people to label themselves.

Aggressive: key word analyze profiles for tributes and financial messages, filter appropriately.

Take your pick.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: [Suggestion] Search option for financial / tribute dom (3/23/2012 3:43:11 PM)

I would like to tag the following:

MEN THAT ARE CHEATING ON A SIGNIFICANT OTHER

MEN WHO WILL NEVER SHOW UP FOR A MEETING

MEN WHO ARE LYING ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL SITUATIONS

Maybe they could have a special font, or colour to the font. Work on that, kthx.

IrishMist -> RE: [Suggestion] Search option for financial / tribute dom (3/23/2012 3:44:41 PM)

Well, let me see.

I learned how to read in kindergarten. I learned how to write by second grade.

I learned the meaning of the words yes and no before even attending school.

I have found that what I have mentioned above, is a very good filter to not talking to someone I don't wish to engage with.

PERFECT LH

I suspect we can all agree also that there really needs to be one for "sluts who won't blow Ron"

Doesn't sound attackish at all, I appreciate the rational discussion on a subject that usually has the OP tossing their toys out of the crib.

Yes, I agree that some more selections would be nice for those setting up profiles here. You are right, that even if the people didn't use certain designations that others might, and that would save you some time in the end. I do think I made a valid point though in the second half of my posting where I mentioned that to some, it might be misleading to have these other designations in that people reading the profiles might be misled in thinking that this person was not listed as a certain something, so they must truly be what they are listing themselves as - a non-financial Dom.

I'm all for being part of a good solution as well. I just have never seen one here on this subject that manages to be effective without having issues in other areas.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: [Suggestion] Search option for financial / tribute dom (3/23/2012 3:48:29 PM)
