I have seen a rash of posters on Collarme who have medical issues. Everything from mild to severe. Perhaps I'm naive in some ways, but I do feel for those with illness/injury that they have not brought upon themselves.

This is a multi-choice poll.. so free to answer more than one of the choices.

Even if you are not in pain, feel free to take a hug. I got tons of 'em. :)

I broke my back a few eons ago and am looking at one more surgery. I am hoping this one will correct the problems. My last surgery required 2 discs and a lumbar to be removed; the surgeon in his infinite wisdom removed all the stuff and picked all the bone fragments out but didn’t do anything to stabilize my spine. So I have being dealing with spinal degeneration, bone loss, and a pretty good bit of pain. The new surgeon, I hope, can correct this and let me keep my legs for a few more years.

P.S. I snagged a hug. [:D]

I am just slightly crazy, which I have admitted too. Waiting ever so paitently for them to remove my guts, crossing my fingers on that for sooner than later. And was ever so lucky to end up with some fairly serve nerve deteriation. Basically just made of chit and melting, but hey life is good. I deal. I do.

well as most know by now.. I am diabetic which is pretty serious... I had necrotizing fasciitis which left a lot of things behind also partially limited my movements on the right side... other than that I'm in pretty good shape health wise, I take care of myself and my son on my own so I have to be doing something right....

BitaTruble -> RE: Hurt/Injured/Disabled/Ill? (6/4/2006 2:03:50 AM)

i have fibromyalgia.  i don't fully understand the illness, and one of my goals is to better educate myself, particularly on self-care.  When i was last in flare, i was going to the ER by ambulance every other day for a morphine shot, which did not alleviate the pain but made me sleepy.  i begged my MD to admit me and put me on a morphine drip, but of course he refused.  i couldn't sleep, eat, think straight, drive far, etc.

If and when i go back into flare, the pain management MD and i are gonna have a little chat.  If nothing else, this is a quality of life issue.  i want alternative therapies, such as massage therapy, and i want him to help me fight my crappy insurance company to get coverage approved.  i want better drugs.  Certainly stronger muscle relaxers (the pain seems to be a form of severe cramping).

The point is, i do not intend to allow this illness to steal away 6 months of every year.  i will fight it tooth and nail.

I'm in great health, am in pain about this poll, and need a hug from Celeste, mostly to ensure that I can no longer say I am not in pain.

Also curious as to how a "completely disabled" person would read that entire list and reply coherently.  I mean, I understand various disabilities, but to be completely disabled would mean to me to have them all.  To be entirely without ability.  And that would suck, although you wouldn't have the capacity to know it sucks.

Celeste,

I hope this rant put me enough on your bad side to ensure the end of this whole "no pain" streak I am on.

Yours,

benji

After an injury in my mid twentys Rhumatoid Arthritis got into the weak point and spread up the entire length of the spine. I was, at best estimate supposed to be in a wheelchair 11 years ago...... goes to show what they know, as the song says "I'm still standing" and plan to be for a long time to come.

Don't need sympathy, I handle it well and you can be damn sure it rarely stops me doing something I want to do [:D]

SaphireLynn -> RE: Hurt/Injured/Disabled/Ill? (6/4/2006 2:41:25 AM)

I am in good heath but have recently had a  great loss in My life. he was a diabetic so I guess I would say I just need a hugg..

LaMalinche -> RE: Hurt/Injured/Disabled/Ill? (6/4/2006 2:53:45 AM)

Well, I broke my foot twice last year and sprained the ankle while doing so (and they say that exercise is GOOD for you) it is mostly healed, but I still cannot wear heels for long without ending up limping.  The physical pain is gone unless I am doing something high-impact for a medium amount of time, but right before I had finally roke down and went shoe shopping. . . buying myself some lovely new pairs of heels (and I hate shopping) and I have not been able to wear them.  [:(]

I need a hug.

I cannot wait until that "year" wait is up.

Ok, I just wanted to grab a hug or two. lol those of you who read a few of my bitching posts...i was in a car accident saturday 3 hours before my little brother was getting married. so i sucked it up and didnt go to the hospital till the next day............and i have been in agony since, maybe the adreniline of the day. being in the wedding, all the edorphines i was just sore but no real pain....now every inch of me hurts. And to boot before all this i was already a tad achy due to being diagnosed with MS...i give myself a shot on a daily basis to keep the relapses at bay.

After reading all these posts, I feel really lucky to be in good health, other than the aches and pains of getting older.

spectreandnectre -> RE: Hurt/Injured/Disabled/Ill? (6/4/2006 7:16:00 AM)

i have rheumatoid arthritis which has been made worse by the fact i had lyme disease for at least a year and a half without knowing it.  The lyme disease did damage on the joints and the rheumatoid arthritis does also.  i was told the rheumatoid arthritis is bad for a person of my age.  i have my good days and bad days but find if i take my meds regularly it is tolerable.

indybbwsubbie -> RE: Hurt/Injured/Disabled/Ill? (6/4/2006 7:22:19 AM)

Yeah - getting older in the lifestyle sucks.........For the Dom who swings the floggers - to the subs that have to endure the pain.  But with pain comes pleasure ......at least for me!  So i just concentrate on the good kind of pain!
